lemmings say this is the year of the box. ms is doing to press confrences. one on 360 the other on natal. but lots of people here on the forum do not have much faith or interest in natal. if natal fails to interest people would that make a sour e3 for ms? sony will also comment on move and how it uses head tracking, facial recoginition, voice recoginition and 3d. is that a serious threat to natal?

what people don't understand (you) is that if your on this forum your a hardcore gamer. the majority of the people on this forum don't like the Wii either, but it continue to sell well. Microsft is going for the casusal gamer (Wii) for natal, there will also be hardcore games, and multimedia funciton like be able to scroll through the dashboard without a using a remote. And I bet MS will advertise natal very well, and I bet it will be on every newscast, talk show, which it already has been a year b4 launch.

As of Q3 (fiscal year) 2009 Sony has sold 33.5 million PS3 units. Not bad considering it's a year behind.

Looks like there's good competition between the two.

Mystic-G

but sony is not closing the gap

http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-12218-Video-Game-Examiner~y2010m4d22-Microsoft-40-Million-Xbox-360-units-sold

Microsoft has released their fiscal data for the year and in this report they revealed that the Xbox 360 has sold over 40 million units worldwide since the consoles launch in 2005. In 2005 they sold a reported 5 million units and things have taken-off since then. With each seeing an increase over the last, Microsoft has managed to move a lot of units and looks to keeps things moving. The next milestone for the system will be 50 million and it looks like it'll reach that without much concern. Below, you'll find a year by year breakdown of the system sales.sold numbers, should interesting holiday season for the 360.

"Look, I'm jumping!"

Really?

I feel like I'm the only sane person left in the world sometimes. :?

FragTycoon

The point of this thread is not that she was jumping, its the fact that the camera can recognized gender and two people at the same time without much lag.

To all the people who said Project Natal has lag issue, I think this is pretty cool and we still have 7 months until launch.

http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/15/microsoft-gives-us-a-look-through-project-natals-eyes-video/

Ilan Spillinger, Microsoft's Xbox 360 VP, was on hand in Tel Aviv yesterday for a showcase of Project Natal. Although there wasn't much in the way of groundbreaking stuff, the resulting video does show off the motion control system's gender recognition (done through Natal's facial recognition ... you filthy child) and ability to track two players within the frame at the same time. A tipster from the audience tells us that earlier lag issue have been eradicated, although some jitter was indeed apparent when the second person stepped into Natal's field of vision. Either way, it's looking like Microsoft's Xbox 360 peripheral is progressing well toward its release near the end of this year. Go past the break to see for yourself.

[QUOTE="alextherussian"][QUOTE="navyguy21"] Do you know the capabilities of Natal? What would you like to see devs do with it? (honest question, not trying to be mean) I think peoples idea of natal is narrow, as in they only think about motion controlled gaming (mini games) but i think natal could be used in other areas like maybe throwing a grenade back in COD, or creating a vocal diversion in splinter cell.tikki25x

Following up on this. Imagine a game like Black and White on Natal. Its a near perfect fit. What about expanding Tom Clancy's endwar to the point where its hands plus voice only. There are even much more basic ideas, Heavy Rain type games, opening doors, chests with your hands or even just moving inventory around (on a classic inventory screen). Final point, what about casting spells in game, by tracing out certain shapes, sure you would look like a mental patient but the possibility is there...

not to mention games that use Natal and the controller together. theres a ton of possibilities, but we really wont know until E3

Yea, I hope they used this into a lot of there games, I think possibilities are endless.
