As a PC gamer who has not owned a console in years and has little interest in getting one, I've got to say, what exactly does the Xbox One have going for it?

As far as I can see the PS4 has the following advantages;

More powerful (some have said the GPU has up to 50% more potential)

Cheaper by $100

No restrictions on game ownership

Probably going to have the better exclusives, as a PC gamer who has no bias, to me it seems pretty obvious Sony delivered the better exclusives on the PS3. So likely they will do the same with the PS4.

Whereas the Xbox One has the following advantages;

Kinect (which most people don't want and/or don't care about)

This isn't even a contest as far as I can see. You would literally have to be slightly mentally handicapped or really really like kinect to buy an Xbox One over a PS4.

So let me get this straight Microsoft;

1 - You have the most popular and largest grossing form of media in the world (as of last year) - Gaming - and you decide to market your new "gaming" console at its big reveal for a less popular and older form of media "television/movies". Despite the fact that your ENTIRE fanbase EXIST because of the newer, more popular and higher grossing form of media - GAMING.

2 - Then you limit the used games market, one of the major upsides of console gaming, even though your entire customer base is opposed to this and your biggest competitor is not doing this. Putting it on the same level as PC gaming for used games, except games are much cheaper on the PC and the PC has huge sales on a regular basis.

3 - Then you subvert the truth about always online, mislead your customers openly and actually provide a console that requires an online connection every 24 hours to play a single player game. Essentially making your console always online, completely against the wishes of your customers and whilst your biggest competitor does the opposite.

4 - Then you completely negate to include the one single thing your console has left going for it at your big reveal, exclusive games. Instead you concentrate on a dog in COD and a voice activated TV remote. Something you have been able to have through a PC for YEARS.

5 - You also decide to show off sports games at your big reveal, yes that's right SPORTS GAMES, you know the games that we all know and expect to be on consoles anyhow because they are on them every single year. The games we expect anyhow and aren't even remotely exciting to see in a reveal...

6 - All this in a box that looks like a VHS video recorder from 1992.

What you have here is a mid range PC which will be technologically outdated far quicker than the last Xbox, with heavy limitations the PC doesn't have and marketed on multimedia features the PC has had for years now. Plus every single disadvantage imaginable to its main rival the PS4.

How could they have failed any harder than this? I'm not even sure. Maybe sticking poisoned needles on the sides of the machine that make men impotent or something?

They made a lot of mistakes with TDU2. The big mistake was what they did to the handling of the cars, it was a significantly worse than the original TDU which I liked a lot. When you are making a game based around driving different cars, that's a pretty big mistake to make. Shame they didn't get the opportunity to redeem themselves, but if I'm honest they had this coming really.

@top8cat Not really, this includes laptops for example, which are being replaced by tablets in a lot of homes. Same with desktops, replaced by tablet devices. The traditional non gaming markets for the PC are taking a hit because of the popularity of touch devices, whereas for gaming the PC is a fast growing market.

@Lowri001 When it results in making them look better, sure they will. PR move, nothing more.

Origin'/s 39 million members includes;

- Anyone who owns an EA game that has logged into the online part of that game, even if that game is owned and is played on Steam or any other DD platform. For example I own Mirrors Edge on Steam, seeing as I've played it online I had to create an EA account, which became an Origin account as soon as Origin was created. So I have an Origin account despite not having ever used Origin at any point or purchased any games there. The same applies to any EA online account created before Origin, they were slowly transferred and turned into Origin accounts to help fluff Origin numbers up.

- Anyone who plays an EA game on a console that requires Origin login.

- The millions of additional and often fake accounts created just recently because of the "glitch" that allowed you to get one of a number of games free on an Origin account. Which to me was obviously a stunt by EA in order to get millions of new accounts created and people invested in Origin. Although they passed it off as an "accident" and nothing to do with their marketing department.

- 17 million mobile users, which EA actually acknowledge in the article.

So yeah, 39 million accounts, something to tell their shareholders. That's really all it is.

@johnners2981 LOL, as someone who has owned and sold all the current available consoles, because I simply don't ever bother playing them, I would hazard a guess that you don't own any such PC. Still you are trying hard and that's the most important thing.

@johnners2981 It's getting released on the PC, Amazon have already listed it. Not that I'm particularly bothered either way, the PC is overflowing with amazing exclusives right now and has been completely dominant in that area the last couple of years. It's because you are a console only gamer that GTA means so much to you. If you had access to all the great games PC gamers do, it would be less of a big deal for you.

Mother of god, can someone roll a grenade into EA's boardroom before it's too late, preferably whilst it is occupied. Apparently losing $400 million in the last quarter wasn't enough for EA to have a seriously think about the direction they are taking.

@Jamemba Agreed, don't make it unless you have genuinely talented people involved. Not writers of crappy superhero movies or television series. ME deserves more than that.
