@CommandoAgent: If you're a fan of either Batman or Superman, or the DC universe, then you should watch it. Not saying you'll come out happy, but you are cursed to love something that doesn't get good movie treatment and you must live with that curse.

Batfleck was the best part of this movie. It's not just me either, most every review I've seen along with what other people are saying all pretty much agree that Ben Affleck nailed it.

@killered3: Here's my critique, and I'm not holding any spoilers back for anybody that hasn't seen it but is still planning to.

This was a jumbled mess of a movie. The first act of the movie is thrown at you at breakneck speed, jumping from scene to scene to scene to scene without time for establishing shots or a chance for you to catch up. It's like they tried to stuff five movies into the time span of a single movie so not enough care went into any story.

I came in expecting a Batman vs. Superman movie, but they fought for like 8 minutes total, in a 2 hour 30 minute movie. They did a decent job establishing Batman's motivations for taking down Supes, but for Superman they just made Lex take his mother hostage in order to make him fight. COME ON! Superman would have had plenty of motivation for fighting Batman without a contrived reason like this, especially this new brutal take on Batman who killed left and right without giving it a second thought. And those reasons for fighting aren't even dealt with after they make a truce... Batman still has reasons to worry superhumans are unaccountable and Superman still presumably doesn't like that this Batman is essentially The Punisher in a bat costume. It isn't even treated like a truce either; Batman gives up the Kryptonite spear like he'll never need it and Batman's brutality is never spoken of again. "Your Mom has the same name my Mom has. We are brothers now." This story arc is haphazardly started and then is never completed.

The movie gave no motivations for Lex Luthor, he just hates Superman for some unstated reason. In the established stories, he hates Superman because Superman foils his plans... but his hasn't ever happened in the movies yet. Superman is brand new to Earth here. The movie starts with him knowing Superman is Clark Kent and is already trying to defame him. If he's trying to kill a god because he sees all these new superhumans as threats, why would he create another in the form of Doomsday? Not explained. This is bad storytelling.

This movie isn't a cohesive story; it's a 120 minute setup of other movies with fan service sprinkled liberally.

When the Flash came to Bruce Wayne, I cheered thinking, "OMG, they actually didn't spoil everything in the trailer!" I was ready for this bit to actually go somewhere. Was there going to be a pivotal moment where Batman has to make a difficult choice that could lead to or away from his visions? Is the Flash going to show up for the last fight too? "HAHAHA NO," laughs Snyder. "Buy tickets for the next movie, dumbass." That s*** literally goes nowhere. It only serves to make Bruce tell Diana that they need to recruit superheroes otherwise they can't call this movie Dawn of Justice.

DESPITE ALL THAT, I still think this movie is a 7/10.

Why? Because Batman f***in' fights Superman! I've wished to see this on the big screen for ages. Moreover, this Batman might be the best live action Batman despite all the killing.

That warehouse fight scene alone is worth the price of admission for a fan like me. But this movie is not for people who don't already know who all these characters are.

@Pikminmaniac: Exactly! After people complained in Man of Steel about Superman killing, the studio doubled-down on the murder and decided to make killing a regular part of Batman's persona. It's not like he was conflicted about killing someone in a major scene; no... this Batman was exploding people, stabbing bad guys in the heart, crushing cars with people in it, and then dragging said car like a wrecking ball behind him to crush more cars with more people. They had this Batman breaking his one rule, a central part of his character, like it never existed.

And Batman was STILL the best part of the movie.

I get the feeling that Warner Bros. feels pigeon-holed. They want to be more like Marvel in the way they handle cinematic universes; and when they look to the other side of the fence they see that Marvel's Cinematic Universe doesn't make a big deal about their heroes' willingness to kill. The Marvel movies don't bring up that moral conflict. So Warner Bros. thinks they can do that themselves and just have Superman and Batman kill in a very matter-of-fact way without it being a huge deal. It is a huge deal.

And Batman was STILL the best part of the movie.

Spud Grubs

Totes Tates

I believe you have an excellent idea and I would certainly go to a place like that if they really lived up to the theme. You'd better serve vodka cocktails as well.

@horgen: I'm a Batman fan through and through. This Batman commits some sins to his characterization that will rub you the wrong way if you're a Batman fan, but overall Batfleck will make you a believer. This I promise you.

I saw the movie. The best way to describe it is: It's a bad movie with a lot of good stuff in it. Like a sloppy mess of a sandwich that falls all over the place, but that meat was so juicy and delicious that it almost makes up for the mishmash of random ingredients that were stuffed in.

The best part of the movie was Batman/Bruce Wayne/Ben Affleck. And I'm eating a lot of crow on this one... I was one of the people who said he was a bad pick for Batman, but he nailed it.
