Think about this: Why do all high end gaming PCs use LCD monitors? For that matter, why aren't Plasma PC monitors more popular, or, available at all? LCDs simply display digital signals better than Plasma. The technology has been around longer and is closer to being perfected. LCDs draw less current, put off less heat and in general, have longer lives.bluedevil64
I completely disagree with this part of your statement. High end gaming PCs use LCD monitors because plasma screens do not come in that small of a size. Your will rarely see plasmas smaller than 42" with the exception of a couple manufacturers that have 37" screens. And as for the longer lives part, the new plasmas introduced by Panasonic and Samsung have a longer half-life than the vast majority of LCD screens.
Both LCD and Plasma displays have been around since the 1960s, and neither are close to perfection. Both still have flaws.
LCDs have input lag, motion blurring, and a narrow viewing angle (some are better/worse than others in these respects).
Plasmas have green fringing on fast movement (again, some are better/worse than others). Many people say burn-in, but that's way overblown. Plasmas have as much of a chance of burn-in as a CRT.
Personally, I would go with a plasma, since you can get a larger screen for less money than a comparable LCD.
Amature sports I agree with this. Sometimes games like this get out of hand, and it is nice to get it over with a little quicker.
When it comes to professional sports however, I don't think this would be a good idea. People pay big money to see these games, and they should see the whole game.
[QUOTE="CommanderShiro"][QUOTE="gameeer1"][QUOTE="Espurs117"][QUOTE="duxup"]I'm no soccer fan so I ask is it really that bad? These are not the same teams that do the world cup competition are they?
chucholucho
Correct, they are not the same teams. The quality of players is reduced heavily.
That's because its for more younger players right?
Yes and the fact that most Olympic teams consist mainly of amateur players. The FIFA World Cup teams consist of players from professional leagues.Mmm, no, nowadays olympic teams consist mainly of professional players, those days are long foregone
However, since only players under 23 years of age are able to play in the Olympics (aside from 3 players per team that are allowed to be older), the quality of players is reduced from that of the World Cup.
I don't think it was intentional. He went for the ball, but when Kirilenko moved it away, Dirk tried to hit across his arms to take the foul instead. His momentum was spinning him and when Kirilenko brought his arms up to go for the shot, it knocked Dirk's arm up. And Drik's momentum brought Kirilenko down. If it was intentional, wouldn't Dirk's hand be facing Kirilenko? His hand is facing the opposite direction, which is a big part of why I believe it was accidental. However, he should not have argued the call. Even if it was accidental, it was an exceptionally hard foul and deserved a flagrant call.
It is a terrible injury and he won't be back playing again until at the earliest next season but the tackle wasn't that bad you see that sort of tackle every game it was just mis-timed that was all no intent most pundits have said the tackle itself only deserved a yellow card but he got a red card because the ref saw how serious the injury was had Eduardo not got injured and just got back up Tayler wouldn't of got sent off im pretty certain about that.
I don't think Martin Tayler deserves any more of a suspension than what he would normally of got for a straight red card he has a fantastic disciplinary record that shows he is not a dirty player.
fordies
Exactly. It was more clumsy than malicious. And you do see tackles like that all the time that don't result in injury, and produce a yellow card. If you watch, Taylor would have had the ball, but Eduardo flicked it away as Taylor was sliding in. It was unfortunate timing that resulted in a horrific injury.
