This is lame. Planes exist. Planes crash. It sucks but we pull ourselves together and move on. Now, it's been awhile, but I thought I remembered being able to fly a sea-plane in Vice City. Are they taking out helicopters too? The number of cities certainly shouldn't have any impact on whether or not you can fly. (I spent most of my time flying in San Andreas, mowing people down in Vegas telling them they were all living in sin :D I never really bothered ever flying long distances.) So as far as city size is concerned as an excuse I think it's lame.

And certainly, 9/11 was a terribly tradegy but what about the train bombings in Madrid? Or the Underground attacks in London? A central theme of the game is unrestrained, chaotic violence - certainly not the point but an essential option. If they had included the twin towers that would have been an atrocious slap in the face. But removing a daily element of life because some schmuck decided to use it as a weapon is dumb.

You simply can't wear out a CD/DVD by playing it a lot. Cartridges, yes. Cassettes, yes. Record albums, yes. But not CDs. Either the disc is scratched or just dirty, or there's a problem with your system. Could be something as simple as dust or hair on the lens.

A $500 charge to a $2 credit. Huh, yeah easy mistake to make. In all seriousness though, how long did it take to sort it out? Did you post on here the moment you saw the bill?

You want to rant? So then are you ranting about your crappy set-up? I mean was this really worth making a topic for? Maybe if you had some sick home theater that wasn't a TV sitting on an book case it would be worth posting - but still no-one would care.

I agree that there is too much emphasis on online play for some games. Most do a fair job of balancing it though. And there's certainly some achievements online that are worthy of being rewarded. Points are fun are far as setting goals for yourself but I'm not that into them. What does bother me though is the new trend to limit the number of points that come with the game then add more later through downloads. (eg. Crackdown's 900) If you are tracking points, that's a unfair disadvantage for someone that's not willing to buy content. You paid for the game once. You shouldn't have to pay again to get complete number of points. That's assuming of course that you'll have to pay for the additions...

Support Opera! While using Opera (ver. 9.01), I've never been able to rate games outside of doing a complete review. The little rating bar just doesn't work. And up until recently I was able to post quick messages (on game news and such) just fine but this too has stopped working. Had to switch to Firefox to post a comment.

I think you're letting a few games get the best of you. I agree that there have been a few notable games that have provided lackluster single-player modes in favor of online play (ie, Chromehounds) and EA is going nuts with buying points but otherwise I don't see a lot of all around exceptional games that have catered to one end or the other. Gears of War, GRAW, Splinter Cell, Rainbow Six (umm, I'm seeing a Ubisoft trend here), etc, etc, etc. There's a lot of games out there that have excelled at the single-player/co-op realm and still managed to have enjoyable online modes as well. Most games with poor single-player modes haven't faired any better online. If anything Live has extended the life of these games because it offers a unique experience by allowing you to meet and play with different people. To me it's actually refreshing to be able to patch or download an addon for a platform game - something I could only do in the past with a PC.
