It's OUR expectations to blame for the developers' aversion of trying new things?
I mean, I agree with him that people are dumb and want only things that are safe and familiar, and devs should challenge that. But that has nothing to do with this.
This a simple story of a mediocre developer creating a product with a lot of spectacle but sloppy gameplay.
There are lots of games like that. Old and new, and we don't call their developers "poor artistically challenged souls". We called them bad developers.
@jonnybutler11 @Icepick_Trotter @max-hit I certainly hope so. Because anyone who believes in the misguided concept of "game generations" sure isn't helping the cause.
I mean, what generation does Doom 3 belong to, then? Certainly not the same as the PS2, yet it WAS on the original Xbox. Along with Half-Life 2.
And DotA? And Counter Strike Source? And anything in the Dreamcast?
@jonnybutler11 @max-hit Silly Doomguy-face. They can't count the PC because it doesn't work in "generations" like consoles. Thus making this entire poll completely pointless.
Ridiculous polls like these are part of the reason games are still seen as a joke by other media...
I'm all for keeping this game for 4 more years. The current SF4 is still very popular online.
If a SF5 came out now, everyone would ditch SF4 and we'd all have to shell out big bucks for new PCs and consoles if we don't want to miss the party... All for changes that would be mostly visual...
I don't necesarily like Capcom and their business practices... But I think this time they're doing the right thing.
