As someone who loves arcades and classic games, I can't support crippling "used" or "pre-owned" games. When games are still in stores, I buy them new. But blocking used games goes beyond that. It would prevent you from playing a game that came out a few years ago. So the only place to get an old game would be off of eBay where a NEW copy will run a couple hundred dollars, or a bootleg or emulation. And if people are buying used games to save $5-$10, they'll surely want to save a couple hundred. You're just asking for bigger problems.

And after seeing how quickly Microsoft dropped the Original XBOX support on XBL, I have zero faith in an Always Online console from them or anyone. I still like the XBOX and think it sucks that I can watch YouTube videos and do 1000 other things on XBL, but I can't play XBOX games online or redownload updates or DLC.

It they choose that route, I hope their arrogance does them in. Maybe they'll still have an audience with people who aren't overly serious about games. People that only play what's new and think anything more than a year old is garbage. But for people like me, who play 20 year old games on a daily basis along with new stuff, it's not an option.

And what's ironic about the whole thing, is that by trying to combat used games, in a shortsighted way, they'll actually lose people like me who will undoubtedly focus future gaming on games they missed along the way. Meaning, their lost customers are spending their money on used games. But it's worse because, they're not even games for their system.

I really don't give a damn who the characters are in games, I'm just tired of all the bitching from all sides regardless of view. Just keep in mind you have to take the bad with the good. So when a game comes out where all you do is shoot and chop up women, its no different from the thousands of games where you did the same to waves of men. But I can't see that happening. It would be a problem guaranteed. But if it's equal, it's equal. You can't pick and choose.

The new Tomb Raider already had controversy for some suggested rape scene or something. But imagine Lara is replaced with a man, and all the people he killed in the game, were women. It would be all over the media that the game promotes violence towards women. So it's lose lose all the time. People are mad because women aren't in something, then they are but feel misrepresented. And all the good examples get looked over.

I'm all for equality, but everyone has to accept that equality and stop throwing flags anytime something isn't in their favor. There are a majority of male leads?? Well, they're also the standard fodder. So while people want women or whoever to be heroes, they also have accept being fodder too as well as being made stupid and ugly as well. Unless you call me out specifically, I don't take offense. There are plenty of dumb dudes and worthless white people, so I don't bunch myself up with an entire group of anything. I am ME. I just wish others could do the same. Please, add more leading ladies. Some of my favorite characters are women. But I don't care if they're male, female, alien, robot, or other... I just want games that are awesome... and news that isn't always crying about something. These are GAMES... bring back the FUN!!!!

Look at all of those classic games that fill up your TOP 100 GAMES OF ALL TIME LISTS. Games everyone should play but probably hasn't. It's not filled up with games that you can go out and buy new. They're out of print. So instead of picking up a copy on eBay for a few bucks, you'll be looking at a few people that have RARE unopened copies for hundreds of dollars. Re-leases would only apply to popular games and any sleeper hit would only be accessible through bootleg. It's not about buying new games or supporting the industry. I do that. It's about having physical copies, being able to take your games to someone else's house, being able to play a friends game or pick up a game years later that you never played and just preserving games in general. Even now it's annoying. I buy a game new, I use the online pass, I visit a friend and OH YEAH, we can't play online because I didn't bring MY console. Or I can't access my save file because my console forgot the update and without an internet connection to redownload it, my game is invalid. Or XBLA games that say you need to unlock the full version, even though you already bought it and were playing it the day before. It's ridiculous and it's just going to get worse. I love my old ass cartridges. The work, they don't need updates or online. No one can change the game or tell me I don't own it. And quite honestly, with the way that games are becoming so dumbed down, I don't even enjoy them as much as old games, so it won't bother me to miss the next gen. I'll just find some old games with challenge and puzzles you can actually get stuck on.

Anyone that says video games "IS"... loses all creditability.

It's amazing that negativity is allowed to carry so far. Millions all playing by the rules. A couple of people are out of line and every time, we have to call everything into question. You never see this with anything positive. No one gives undue credit to things after some guy does something great. There's no shock-wave of love and hope spread across the world because someone set a good example. No, it's much easier to let those who break the law control all of our lives. And we wonder WHY they shoot up innocent people. Because THAT's how you get the attention of the world and cause a nationwide uproar... not by planting trees or feeding puppies. Let's pay attention to the class clown some more, it's what he wants.

Awesome stuff. REALLY wanted to see texture options. That was the real downer in Reach. Everything was gray... all the time. Different textures or color options would really help make maps stand out from each other more.
