There was a movie teaser in 2005's Chaos Theory. 7 years later, there's talk about making a movie. If it was based on the first 4 games in anyway, great. Otherwise, it'll just be another Bourne movie.

@ZOD777 Agreed. BFBC2 campaign was plagued with that and also the fact that if you ever ventured either side of the predetermined 10ft wide path, you were reminded that you were in the Artillery Zone! Look at the beautiful world, but please... stay on the sidewalk.

Exactly. I watch the demos and I think "How did Survival Horror, Stealth, Adventure, and 3rd person shooter, all end up being the exact same game?" Resident Evil was suspense, puzzles, exploration. Now it's Point A to Point B boom boom boom go go go. Splinter Cell was stealth, light, shadow, sound, high stakes objectives, tons of gadgets and tools. Now it's Point A to Point B boom boom boom go go go. Same with a ton of others.

I play a lot of older versions of these franchises even today, because they actually present a challenge. They weren't made with a "everyone is a winner" mentality. And the games felt much more different from each other instead of this, "appeal to the majority" objective. The industry, or at least the mainstream "AAA" games, if that's what they want to call them, is too homogenized now. Sort of like how websites now are all looking just like every other site.

I'm sick of QTE, button prompts, onscreen hints, X does everything, "a puzzle can't take more than 20 seconds to figure out", and just a blatant "Hey Player, DO THIS". I want to PLAY my games. I don't need or want training wheels, reminders of which button to press to reload or vault, I don't need more "accessible" controls or mechanics, and I don't want every game, to be the same as everything else. I have no problem with these kinds of games, but it's easy to tire of the same meal every single night. Some variety again would be nice. I was watching the Medal of Honor demo with a friend of mine and already being a little "Here we go again" because of all the shooters, I saw they were going to breach the door I said "Oh lord... please don't go into slow-mo when you breach." but boom, there if was. I felt like I was watching an E3 from 3 years ago or something. I'm really impressed by the detail in visual and audio quality in all these games but completely depressed by the lack of originality. "So, it's like a game where you shoot stuff and you're a real badass, and you can absorb a ton of bullets without dying and then things blow up all around and it's coop and there's multiplayer with XP and the trailer for it will have a dubstep track playing!". Sounds about like 90% of what was shown. In a medium that really allow for ANYTHING, it's a shame that it's all essentially the same. Or at least the games they're choosing to focus on.

I had a love for a particular flavor, Splinter Cell. It was delicious. It wasn't for everyone. Some couldn't handle all the ingredients. Some thought it took too long to prepare. Others couldn't understand the appeal. But those of us that liked it, loved it with a passion. A delicacy of sorts. But the chef went mad. He destroyed the recipe, believing that chicken is more popular among the general consumer. Chicken is great, but I can get it anywhere. And this wasn't even good chicken. It left a bad taste in my mouth. Cooked too fast. Lacked any of the essential seasonings. But he didn't care about my loss, because sales were up at his restaurant. And after a couple of years, he's turned to serving leftovers.

GEARS OF MANUAL!!!.... They did it in 1994 in the original for 3DO. I'm sure in 2012 you can figure it out. Thanks.

NFSIII:HP on PS1 is one of my favorite games ever. NFS:HP2 on PS2 was incredibly fun. NFS:MW was really the only NFS I liked after that. I really enjoyed it and for a moment, I thought "Finally, they understand what NFS should be". The reveal of Hot Pursuit coming back initially blew my mind! But then I played the demo. Props on the technical advances but when I can't even choose manual transmission, can't simply turn off the HUD either through a button press during the game or through the options menu? I fail to see how it returned to it's roots. Cops and exotic cars - check. But don't forget we do have to play the game, so some mechanics from the ROOTS would be welcome.

When it automatically turns on my headlights in tunnels even though there is a dedicated button for it, and constantly reminding me to PRESS X to BOOST... I wonder why it even needs me to play. It seems to want to do everything for me, including letting me win. Extreme focus on Auto-Log and cameras watching slow mo crashes might be really exciting back in the offices there at Criterion, but those things shouldn't come at the expense of very basic options and gameplay. A 15 year old franchise needs new ideas, yes. But don't remove such basic and essential elements. Manual, HUD toggle, awesome original music, and can we get beyond the Mario Kart 64 rubberbanding please? A racing game where being fastest puts everyone up your ass and waiting at the start line for 2 minutes and crashing 4 times makes everyone stop at the end so you can win just doesn't cut it for me.

It wasn't Cannibalism that kept people from buying the game, it was Capcomalism. Their greed really pissed a lot of people off. They went all out to show that they cared more about making extra money than they did on really delivering a game that lifelong fans would see and say "Wow, they went all out on this". But instead of smiles, everyone was pissed even before even playing it. They can NOT care all they want, but they have to at least present the illusion of giving a damn. Otherwise, what happens is people like myself who would have bought the game for sure, end up not only refusing to buy their game, but telling their friends, who also decide not to support the game for what it represents.

Every time the "Block Used Games" waters are tested, someone loses a finger. Just keep on walking. Now, if we could get Capcom to stop enjoying the shark attacks over at the shady DLC pool.

I'd love to see some dude who only picks the worst characters or counter picks with the worst match up and dominates. Now sponsoring L0wT13R!

This is what sucks about online only MP like Battlefield, Single Player unlock codes like Batman:AC and digital distribution only games like XBLA and PSN. Things that can only be accessed or acquired online will be inaccessible at some point. And before people think "Well, they're old games who cares?" Look at all the classics from 20+ years ago that are still being enjoyed. You can find any old Atari, SNES game and play the full game as it was when it was released. But now games are on life-support from Day 1. People always told me as a kid 'They don't make things the last anymore' when it came to cars or tools... but now it applies to games. When the service ends, XBLA/PSN games can't be purchased off eBay. DLC can never be obtained. Ever since XBOX LIVE discontinued support for XBOX games, I've been really concerned about the preservation of games. People 10+ years from now or your kids will never get to play the games you played as they were, unless they are released. What's worse, is less and less game devs put in a System Link feature anymore. You can't link two consoles 5ft from each other, but you can link two consoles 500 miles away. Epically lame. One day the plug will be pulled on the games or the services and when that happens its nice if you can at least play with friends still. These games are too good to have a time-bomb attached to them all. Games are art? Seems more like they're trying to make them one-time-use-disposable-entertainment devices instead.
