Time to scan the SNL and late-night TV sketch archives - I suspect we'll find evidence of "prior art" in some of their parodies...

Time to be "that guy":
Finding the right mix of both is an interesting challenge that must compliment your personal armaments
The correct word is "complement", as in "to complete". This article currently uses "compliment", as in "to say nice things about".

Of course, that might be your intent!

A lot of "hypocrite" comments aimed at the customer - how about a cheer for Valve's customer service? (if the story is true)

Our industry is choc-a-bloc with "no refund" policies, especially with digital storefronts. I applaud Valve for working with this customer.

I'm reminded of Stardock's Gamers' Bill of Rights: http://gamersbillofrights.com/

@Lionheart8472 I completely agree - they are heinously unrelated to the article, and to GameSpot in general.

I installed my first adblocker/network filter because of these ads! If these new ads are intended to be less intrusive (or "more relevant", thereby "more clickable") than the typical banner and sidebar ads, then they are failing miserably.

@ggregd @The-Neon-Seal

This is EA's PopCap. They were purchased by EA in 2011.

@StinkySkunkGirl @megakick The screenshot is of the Facebook version, Plants vs. Zombies Adventures.

PopCap hasn't released any screenshots of PvZ2.

@Martin Gaston:

Typo in closing paragraph:

"...making it possible to play the game...indefinitely online." - I believe the last word should be "offline".
