@ramyland @DoubleclickTF @djpetitte I like that. It's not as if they couldn't do it or don't know how to do it. I actually wish Assassin's Creed was more like this, since the game turns you into a warrior rather than an assassin. I don't like a game to make me a hero when I'm actually a psychopath, and trimming down the violence to a contextual basis makes the character a lot more consistent and believable.
@djpetitte @DoubleclickTF Nope. Possibly pirates who got the game pre-patch? If you go to Ultra on a system that can't take it, it's going to struggle a bit with high speed chases. High looks great though, and my GTX650Ti has no problem with that. I bet your card is better than mine ;)
@djpetitte What have you heard? It's great. There's been a patch and new drivers from NVidia (and I think AMD), so you should have no problems. The game's auto settings are too cautious, and you should be able to creep almost all of them up a notch or two.
@speedfreak48t5p It's not like that really. He's talking about the crimes you have to stop, which are mostly muggings. All you do is hide close to the victim while you wait for their attacker to turn up. A percentage score reading the likelihood of a crime occuring clocks up, and when it hits a high percentage the game tells you to intervene.
If you jump the gun and get in there more quickly, the would-be attacker walks away and the encounter ends, but you haven't "failed" as such.
@darktruth007 I'd understand waiting for a sale if you're not in a hurry to play it, but it's definitely not a rental. You'd have to skip a huge amount of content to get through this in a weekend. It really is a big game.
@xall3gianc3x I own WD, and it's a good game, but 8 is about right (and 8 means "excellent"!). 9 and 10 should be reserved for games that are among the best ever made. That's not what Watch Dogs is. I wish all these sites would get rid of numbers altogether. Kotaku's "Yes"/"No"/"Not Yet" is the only rating system that makes sense to me. People should read the words of reviews, not the numbers.
@berserker66666 @ladies_man_xxx @Mercaptan Mine is only alright (i5 4440, SSD, GTX650Ti, 8GB RAM) but it runs great on high. Seriously, update drivers, get the patch. It's unspectacular, but it's fine. The only time I ever saw stutter was when I turned on all Ultra settings for a laugh.
@rickphoenixxx I'm just surprised people are so mad with software developers and not with the hardware manufacturers. It's a bit wacky to think Ubisoft are a bunch of moustache-twirlers who actively enjoy truncating games, or that they poured a ton of money into creating a playable demo that they had no intention of fulfilling as a commercial product.
@rickphoenixxx They were showing you a game ages before the new gen spec was finalised, based on what they guessed the GPU is XO and PS4 would be capable of doing. Lots of us were surprised by how underpowered these machines ending up being.
