Path of Exile is incredible. The fact that it's free and doesn't have any kind of forced pay mechanics is great.

Garden Warfare looks kinda boring. Guess I'll have to give it a go before I pass judgement, though.

Great episode. Even though you were playing offline, this is the best one I've seen in a while. That down-to-the-wire ending was great as well.

@Chris_Watters I enjoyed this video as well. Good to know someone is looking at reviewing early access games, also. Hard to know which will be decent and which will be total garbage, only have so much time to watch hour long let's play videos about games, would prefer a condensed first impression of a game and what other games it's like (if any).

I'll be back all week for the rest of the videos, keep up the good work.

@plasticreality Not sure what you consider to be unethical about charging more early on to keep people out. It's there to only let the people in who really want in and it generally includes some perks that won't be available when the final game is complete (forum badges and other junk).

Also not sure why you think Steam needs to be investigated, it's single-handedly brought PC gaming back to life over the past 5 years, if not for Steam, all we'd have for PC games are WoW clones and loads of free-to-play trash (and free-to-play WoW clone trash) rather than games you can actually pay a flat price and play as much as you like.

Steam isn't a caveat venditor system but rather a caveat emptor system. The seller chooses what they want to price a product at and it's up to you, the buyer, to make a choice about whether or not that price is acceptable. Steam is just the vendor in this situation, much like a vending machine you'd find in a public place. They're not fraudulently charging you for something, you made the choice to buy, if you weren't thorough in investigating what you were buying and the price drops later, that's on you and not the vendor.

@plasticreality Paying for something and having it go on sale a couple of weeks later isn't really an issue with Steam Early Access. Pretty much any game is going to end up being cheaper, it just depends on if you want to play it now, or wait to play it later.

As far as getting the game cheaper, it all depends on the developer. There have been a handful that are cheaper on Early Access, but most are not in order to keep people away from buying them unless they really want to help with the game development or toy around with it before it's finished. Arma III was $30ish dollars during it's early access and jumped up to a full $60 after release, not sure if DayZ standalone will do the same, but I wouldn't doubt it given that Bohemia Interactive is also developing it.

On the flipside, some games are more expensive during early access to keep out people who aren't there for testing. Planetary Annihilation is $60 and is supposed to go down as the game enters beta and finally, full release. I'd like to play it, but they put up a pay wall to keep the amount of people down, so I wait until they lower the price, then I'll give it a go.

I also bought State of Decay as soon as it was available on Early Access and it's a great game, well worth $20 and then some. I bought the DLC when it came out because I enjoyed the game so much. I don't think I was ripped off because someone else got it for cheaper on a Steam sale, that's just the way Steam works. If you really want to play something, go ahead and buy it, but if you're on the fence, wait a couple of months and it will more-than-likely end up going on sale for half price or even more.

You could even watch other sites like Amazon or Green Man Gaming to ensure you're catching every sale that's out there. Even the Humble Bundle has some great games if you want to get a lot of entertainment for a ridiculously good price. One of the best things about Steam is that you can game on the cheap if you've got a little patience to wait for a good sale.
