Home is a community environment where people can hang out and meet, play some free games and wait for friends to come online so they can launch into multiplayer games together, or atleast it will be as soon as they finish all the technology involved. You get realistic human avatars that you can customize with clothing and items, and apartment where you can invite friends and decorate to your tastes and eventually they'll allow you to purchase larger appartments that allow you to store mroe things and come stocked with new customization options. New PS3 games will also come with winable trophies that you can display in a trophy room to show off what you;ve accomplished. Some games will even give you items to customize your avatar or apartment.

Indeed everyon once and a while I do see PS3 game commercials though they're usually the multiplatform type and you have to struggle to find the PS logo next to the huge oversized Live/xbox logo. I have seen a couple of PS3 exclusive game commercials but they dont have as much inpact as the xbox exclusiv commercials (which by the way are mutiplatform games half the time just branded with the xbox end logo to make it look like it's only on xbox)

I do have to say that every PS3 game comercial is still an ad for the system as well since you cant use one without the other, But I agree they could use a little more visibility, hopefully the post GDC work will include getting some clear advertisement and content produced quickly.

I'm taking my time and trying to get my feet wet (muddy?) in the single player mode before going for the online modes where i know people can be insanely evil especially in racing games.

They never said revlolutionary, it's the way it's being used that;s new. See Second Life and There have their costs and hitches. But Home is more than those two (why people keep saying sims is baffling since these two games are more like what Home is emmulating). Home isnt JUST the avatars it's everything you do with them from downloading trailers to sharing things to offering content and connecting with friends.

Just imagine if Home works the way they seem to be suggesting you can be playing a game of Motorstorm, get a Message from a friend and instead of dropping into the XMB to send an email you jump directly into Home from the XMB high five him and invite him to come race you. It's a lot more cool than voice chat or video chat and it's integrated in to the system rather than trying to be a standalone MMORPG with missions and such that you arnt really intersted in. All your advancements as an avatar come from what you do in REAL games, not in some instance camping spawns.

GDC still has a few more days left. As far as i know the update is schedualed for the end of it like march 8th or 9th I could be wrong of course but for certain it'll be availible before march 23rd and the euro launch because their systems will be preloaded with it.

It's understandable you;re just saying what everyone else is thinking. ALL Sony's woes could have been fized by having this all ready at launch. But from what I've seen Sony had enough trouble in their own house to make things a problem for them before the launch. The fact that they;ve gotten thigns together this much in only about 4 months shows they're doing much better now. Besides if they'd waited it would have meant more time sitting behind closed doors with all this wild stuff and risking others comming in and snatching the idea.

No matter what people where going to say they stole. It's the only "argument" a lot of fanboys have left to complain about the PS3. Granted yeah they did just basically give you a free MMOG like Second Life or There, but why is that such a big deal? Sure you can Mail you Miis to a friend but can you interact in a fully realized world of thousands of other Miis being controlled in real time? People asked for achievements like the 360. Sony gave them a whole freaking trophy room! How is that ripping off? All sony did is give people what they've been asking for... only better.

Out of curiousity what is little big planet? I know what PS home is but what the fudge is little big planet? I googled it and I didn't even come up with anything remotely close to anything video games.Wii26

In simplest terms its a game that allows you to create a personal gaming experiance and share it with others. From the look of screen shots I've seen you can make your own simple action/platform/puzzle games or play through ones created by others as well as the original developers and find new items to populate your own creatios with. I think this is part of the user created content method of interactivity Sony's trying to champion.

There'll still be reason for people to doubt and hate but hopfully this makes it easier not to do so. Home is basically a free MMOG just like There or Second Life, built in and not requiring any  purchases to enjoy but only enhance if the desire merits it. The only problem I ever felt with a game like There was the lack social envolvment. between creating goofy scavenger hunts and trying to improve your hoverboard skill there wasnt much going on in "there" In oder to buy a home and put things in it you had to pay money and try to sell virtual products to make the money to do so. Here you're given a free place, free furniture and you're in a world full of gamers who want the same thing as you to go play a darn fun game or two. If it had the slightly more fun art style of There, that would be the only thing else I could want.

Now the only resal question is will developers like it? Sure we do and can see a load of potential in such a thing for paling around and enjoying a community but will people like EA of Rockstar see it the way we do?

[QUOTE="Alpha2"]I still dont understand why th option is omitted from the PS3, Unless the 360 version's soundtrack option dosent have the same integration as the ingame music? Hypothetically the mysoundtrack option built into the system only plays the music and might not give you the same interactions as the ingame music but if that's not the case I simply dont see why they couldn't have allowed for selecting tuns from your HDDs Music folder, just because you cant access the XMB dosent mean they files arnt there.

Maybe EA is just lazy.

Ultimately the biggest problem with the game seems to be that it just plain dosent control well. I see nothing wrong with the graphics, they seem just fine. But the review says theres a lag between pressing a button and the action you take.
Deihmos

Every single game on the 360 has that option. It's a requirement for the system. I think it has something to do with the system and the software so i can play music from the hard drive or from my PC.

But what I'm trying to figure out is does the option just swap out what ever song is playing for your own MP3 or does it just play your music over what ever would have been there and turn off the original music. Because that would mean that you cant "spin down" or "Spin up" you own tracks the way you can the regular game music. if mysoundtrack integrates into the game that seemlessly then it sounds like either EA was too lazy to add the extra code to give the PS3 the option or MS helped modify the option for the game and either way that dosent sound right to me. Sony may not have a custom sound track mode built in but somehow I doubt they wouldn't have given EA a way to access your HDD music if they were told that's what the developer wanted to do. It really is sounding like EA was lazy on this game in all respects from tightening to making sure both versions worked in a similar manner.
