I like em both, gog.com for older games (minus witcher 3) and steam for most newer ones. I must admit, I do like this early version of GOG.com Galaxy client. Needs more work but so far its going in a nice direction.

I agree. I am liking Galaxy so far, too. I like Steam but I honestly don't use 90% of the "features" it has. I use my library, the store, and occasionally read some of the game specific forums. That's it. I've always wished Steam offered a "lite" version (not that it takes up much memory, space, or whatever) for people who don't want to be bothered with all the clutter and constant updates for features they'll never, ever, use.

I am truly hoping they keep Galaxy lean and to the point.

I like Divinity better. It doesn't take itself so seriously, which bothers some people, and I like turn-based RPGs more than real-time /w pause games. With that said, Pillars is probably more similar to the games you have played (or at least one of them). PoE really isn't, combat wise at least, all that different from Dragon Age Origins.

The only thing that's really awful about Steam is their customer service.

Yeah, but isn't that a pretty big thing to suck at?

If somebody would make a decent skill-based, non-theme-park, living word, MMORPG (like SWG, UO, or Asheron's Call) I would gladly pay $15 (or more) each month to play that. But, if companies continue to churn out the same damn game from the MMORPG gristmill, then I will continue to ignore the genre, free-to-play or otherwise.

Slapping some cut-scenes or twitchy combat on an already tired and played out formula just doesn't cut it anymore.

If a game is available on both then I will always go for the DRM free, GoG, version. Maybe I'm a relic but I kind of like the idea of owning the things I buy.

I've never cared for WoW so, no, it's not worth it. For me, WoW was the death knell of the MMORPG.

What happens when an unscrupulous developer bans someone for submitting an unflattering review? Not saying that will happen but it really wouldn't surprise me if it did.

Maybe now that they are done with worthless mod payment features they can get on to actually making games. Enough with worthless money gouging ideas.

Oh, I doubt they are "done" with it. I'm willing to bet Fallout 4 ships with this wonderful feature.

What happens when steam decides that you can't use any mod outside of there workshop or else you run illigal content and gets yoru entire account banned with games?

Welcome to the brave new world. What's going to happen when other developers take notice and you can only use "official" mods for any game? These greedy trolls are always looking for new and exciting ways to monetize their games, and whats better than slave labor? A 25% return on your time and labor? Oh, thank you, thank you, benevolent leaders!

The ultimate irony is that this is starting with a Bethesda game - a company whose games only become tolerable through some pretty heavy modding. Now Bethesda, and others, can continue to release buggy, feature-bare products and then sit back and make a profit while the modding community fixes them.

This is basically an endless supply of labor-free DLC for publishers. How could anything possibly go wrong?
