This sucks, but the French are such a bunch of wimps they won't do anything about it.

Before you jump down my throat, I said the same thing the last time France was attacked. People mourned, people said something should be done, politicians and people bitched.

Nothing happened. Nothing will happen this time.

and this cycle will happen again.

This is too much reminiscent of 16 December Taliban attack in Pakistan. Always a frightening sight. May the deceased find peace and the situation settles quickly.

The only diplomacy with terrorists is through the barrel of a gun. I hope the GIGN finds the terrorists, line them up on a fucking wall and slaughter them all. Prayers go to the victims and their families, truly a shocking event.

@servomaster: I have to wonder if not immediately attacking other countries in response to terrorist attacks is actually the adult thing to do. After all if France were to scratch the revenge itch and go after the country that they believe is responsible it would result in innocent people dying, possibly destabilizing a government, and eventually make way for more terrorist organizations to be created.

I can understand increasing security measures on the home front, perhaps even special forces with targeted attacks, but giving into all out war is likely the wrong way to deal with this sort of thing and probably it's exactly what the attackers were hoping to ultimately accomplish.

Yep. You are the ones who create conditions that allow these monsters to fester in our society until they decide to act out on their evil intentions. I love how naive people are thinking that playing "the better man" will somehow fix this problem.

These aren't people but fucking animals who only want to massacre innocent people and destroy freedoms.

They don't give a shit if we try and act above it all. It will just cause them to do more attacks because they will feel they can get away with it.

Why do you think France is the country that keeps getting slammed by this shit? Because they do NOTHING!

Other countries leveled their shit for pulling crap like this and in turn THEY DON'T GET ATTACKED THE WAY FRANCE DOES!

You **** their shit up and suddenly the dogs don't feel so tough Suddenly they are doing a lot more barking rather than biting.

The ONLY way to deal with this type of hate is to snuff it our with force. You cannot reason with these animals.

I would think their actions would have shown people they have left reason long behind but I guess not.

@uninspiredcup: It's not that I don't want to see war happen over tragedies like this. In fact that is exactly what I would like to see, a war that takes revenge upon our enemies and rightly ****ing so. But that's the rub isn't it? Not only are you giving the terrorists exactly what they want, but going to war with other countries is exactly what has allowed groups like issis to emerge in the first place.

As much as it sucks to see these sorts of things happen and make smaller more calculated maneuvers to counter them, it's still better in the long run to let cooler heads prevail.

Good post. It would be best if these types of people didn't exist at all but if you appease them or show weakness it only makes them bolder. That is the unfortunate truth. Hunting them and their collaborators and sympathizers down without mercy is the only option otherwise this will go on and on until there is a chem or nuke attack and when that happens the response will be too extreme and indiscriminate.

People who want peace in our times and dabble with appeasement or half measures are good well meaning people but often at the end of the day the casualty rate is far higher because of these types of policies. I wish it wasn't this way.

It's been half a year since the last time they were attacked. There's been plenty of time to cool down and think of a rational plan, France is just a do nothing state. They poke the lion in the eye, don't let Muslims assimilate then do nothing when there's an attack like this.

@Toxic-Seahorse:

War is very simple. You show the enemy they have no chance of winning and if necessary destroy their base of power completely regardless of the collateral. No one is willing to die for a cause that is doomed to fail. Remove their hope for victory and you remove the will to fight.

This requires very heavy handed measures that I doubt the socialist president of France or any other leaders I can think of are capable of implementing at home or abroad. Allowing Europe to have almost completely unsecured borders would give even the most skeptical jihadist hope for conquest and only a complete fool would have not used the opportunity to move weapons and fighters into the region.

Just woke up to this monstrosity. I wish eternal damnation in hell on the pure, unadulterated filth that perpetrated the attacks.

My thoughts are with the French people. France is a rare strong ally of the Palestinian people that has the audacity to genuinely support the cause contrary to the hegemonic Zionist will, and it's one of the few polities around the world wishing to engender candid harmony with Muslims in its domain. I hope the state will remain strong in this calamitous time and practice self-restraint in its reaction to the atrocious acts; I hate to see it stoop to the level of a filthy bunch or succumb to warmongers who envy French courage and autonomy.

Wait a second, let me feign surprise. Who'd have thought right-wingers will be all over this trying to capitalize on it for more warmongering.

The last thing that's festering in your society vfibsux is Islamic extremism. Racism and Christian radicalism continue to fester and metastasize throughout the U.S. You're either oblivious to it - which is hard to believe but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt - or supportive of it. Neither, however, would change the reality of what's most malignant in the U.S and increasingly in other Western societies. What's destroying the western world is the abusive, divisive, and frenzied right, just like it destroys any country in which it grows and reigns.

What a shock waking up to this early on this morning. Thoughts with the victims and the families. The French have said on the BBC that they strongly believe the attacks are linked to Syria. One of the filthy scum apparently said "For Syria" before expiring. Enough is enough, ISIS need to be wiped out. It is almost like ISIS are on a modern crusade like from old. Importatnt to remember that muslims around the world are being tarnished by this filthy scum in ISIS. They are not human IMHO and have despensed all rights to be treated as such.

Yes, I'm sure that the imperialistic wars that the West has waged in numerous Muslim countries---and that are championed mostly by conservatives---have played no role in the rise of Islamic terrorism. /sarcasm

And while we're pondering the rise of jihadist terrorists, perhaps we should also ponder NATO's fondness for arming them, training them, financing them and even providing air support for them so that they can serve as proxies in the overthrow of secular governments that NATO has targeted for replacement, i.e. Libya and Syria.

Then there's the unwavering alliance between the US and the number one source of Wahhabi lunatics, namely Saudi Arabia. Doesn't it ever discomfit you that the recipient of billions of dollars' worth of annual handouts (not to mention F-15s, F-16s and accompanying bombs and missiles) is also the source of (a) ISIS and (b) almost all of the September 11 hijackers?

Oh, and one more thing: Do you ever wonder why ISIS' Syrian supply lines run right out of Turkey, which is a member of NATO? Or do you just choose to ignore that awkward fact, as Fox News and all the other Western mainstream media do?

So what exactly is wrong with the reality that Muslims are victims too? In fact, the preponderance of contemporary terrorism's victims are Muslims. Reality discredits the shit conservative narrative ,and as such, needs to be warped or denied.

Let me scream at the top of my lungs that this entire shitshow happened because of a deranged man from a deranged demographic ascended the throne of a superpower and decided to precipitate time's end. If conservatives think warmongering, sophistry, and libel will erase history or decide victory, then they got another thing coming. Anything in excess renders it ineffectual. You ravaged us then proceeded to smear us all over the world to fuel a malignant and unjust ideology that's worthy of nothing but contempt and pity. Attempts to repeat or perpetuate the past 2 decades will be met with poetic failure and self-destruction.

Just a theory, but could this attack possibly be perpetrated by the right-wing conservatives who want an end to immigration and liberals? Seems very felicitous if looked at that way.

People say lack of security but if there where too much people would be complaining still. Cant win always some one else's fault or to blame. I live in UK and people are saying its going to happen here in a street near you.

Its saying now ISIS Supporters Celebrating Paris Attacks on Twitter. Time to close all borders in every country and stop letting them in. They said at the beginning of the year this would happen. ISIS said that we are going to send people threw as refugees and they have done. This is just the start.

Yeah, but in what application that will actually work. With the migrant crisis in Europe, security is now beyond repair. Just how many fanatics, or simply brain washed migrants are now sitting in Germany for example I wonder. There obviously an organised cell in France, likely a sleeper cell in various other European nations including Britian. Dread to think what is next.

You don't know what you are capable of until you do it but I might try to get them to shoot me dead by rushing them just to avoid torture. I was reading about that mall attack in Kenya and they did stuff like sharpening the victims fingers to the bone and making use them to write Koran verses in blood. I'm really hoping I never find myself in the type of situation where I have to chose between trying to get a quick death and staying alive as long as possible in the hope of rescue.

Well, that was a good point.

France needs to get a backbone, and hit back hard where they can. You can not lay down like lambs to the slaughter and expect good results with people like this. Peaceful Muslims should take note, these kinds of acts are increasing suspicion of Muslims, even if it isn't warranted.

Not really. As a result of years of relentless demonization and vilification, anti-Muslims' sentiments have already peaked throughout the world to a point where only pogroms would break the record. If anything, I'm observing a reversal of the trend of the past two decades: suspicion is moving away from Muslims into the U.S and its policies as attested by the constant recollection of the Bush's era of ideological preemptive war, aggrandizement of U.S's adversaries, and the popularization of purported conspiracy theories regarding the U.S's role in the current situation.

I understand how you're starting to lose sleep over it, but an old world is decaying, a new one is materializing. The narrative of the old world is becoming trite and passe.

Gatwick Airport’s North Terminal is being evacuated. Witnesses said armed police were arresting a man believed to have a gun in his bag. The allegations could not be confirmed.

Think people are beginning to panic.

The terrorists are getting what they want. People are scared and up and arms again just like 9/11. The right wingers are itching to go to war blindly(im not saying military action should b off the table, but never go in based off reactions). Islamophobia is shooting the hell up, sjw are damage controlling like crazy. People need to be smart and focus on the issue, and not using this as fuel for their agenda.

Also this whole situation makes me sick.

It appears to not be over in France either.
