These zealots just want a war, that is exactly what they want, we shouldn't validate them by taking aggressive action.

People are starting to believe that it was Al Qaeda instead of ISIS.

This is insane and it´s not even the end.

We have thousands of men going in over the borders and coming later when people start getting asylum and can bring up familiy, it will be easy for ISIS to mix with those and get into Europe.

This is sick, 100 people executed during a festive evening......

Look, I know I'm morning quarterbacking but it was in CNN, in real time, people communicating from inside the Concert Hall saying they were executing people, and these report went on for a long time. They took a lot of time to breach inside the hall, or at least it seems that way.

But hey, I don't know shit. Authorities were under a lot of pressure, responding to multiple attacks. Just horrible.

French police put everyone under a gag order before they went into the concert hall so news stations got staggered coverage and reports. They started doing this because of the Charlie Hebdo shooters watching themselves on live TV and knowing what the authorities were up to during that attack.

Hopefully the people responsible will be brought to justice, but there won't be any unfortunate reprisal incidents against innocent people. Facebook in the US is already full of people who are calling for a Christian Crusade to destroy most of the Middle East.

This is a very horrible act. My thoughts go out to paris, the people there, and anyone that knows someone from there. Hopefully these damned monstrous beast that have done this will be stopped and justice is served.

It's probably going to be a lot more counted dead when a final tally takes place... hell, the people doing this might not be done and I'm not even talking about the ongoing hostage situation.

Hopefully this isn't somehow in coordination with the bombings in Lebanon or it's pointing to a lot more coordinated global terrorist activity.

Curious what set this off? the bombing of Raqqah and attacking Jihadi John? the arresting of the Norwegian recruiting center for ISIS? because more pressure put on ISIS by Russians is Syria and US/Kurdish forces in Northern Iraq?

I posted a response to this but it just disappeared. GS is acting weird.

Anyways, France has been active militarily in Northern Africa and the Middle East in the past decade or so, so it's not surprising if France made enemies in those regions.

Either way, France will retaliate and rightfully so.

I'm not surprised this happened but I'm still in shock at the sheer brutality of the ISIS. I hope the horse hasn't already bolted in being able to stop their violence from spreading to other regions. Past attacks in the west have been lone wolves with little training or experience but this appears to be coordinated and possibly carried out by veterans of the conflicts in the mid east and Africa who have seen combat and killed before.

France is already involved in Syria, in at least two roles:

  1. As a contributor to the "anti-ISIS" airstrikes (They targeted an oil distribution center just four days ago.)
  2. As a supplier of weapons and ammunition for anti-government terrorists (Hollande admitted that France has delivered weapons to anti-Assad militants.).

Perhaps but i think what will happen is a time of morning and than France will move on.

We won´t see a public response like America would.

This is true, it would be about 2,997 people via multiple hijacked planes or take place across multiple schools on a near monthly basis.

At one person? Yes you're stuck.

At more than one? You have options.

When you're talking a group of people? You have even more.

I'm not saying everyone should be an action movie star but you have options instead of waiting to die.

If only the passengers who were on board the flights that were hijacked on September 11 2001 had had guns, the Twin Towers might still be standing today. Only bleeding-heart liberals believe that airline passengers shouldn't be able to carry guns!

Those who conceal carry tend to carry just about everywhere.

In a situation where over 100 people died, I doubt someone being armed could have made it any worse.

No. They need to be brought to proper, civil justice and shown that we will not sink to their level and give them exactly what they want... martyrdom.

They need to be locked away in a tiny cell to live out the rest of their miserable lives away from anyone they could influence to do the same.

I am disgusted by what is going on, but I will not entertain the thoughts of doing exactly what they have done to the West back. It's exactly the wrong course of action if we wish to achieve actual peace and harmony. The only reason why extremists have been able to penetrate Western society is because we've fed into the idea of xenophobia and intolerance to those who are different. It lets them say to their community "Look! They hate us and threaten our religion and community, we must stop them!".

But I can't tell you the right course of action, because if I did know it, I'd win a Nobel Peace Prize.

On the news some people claim that the soccer match was the real target but there was too much security. Can you imagine terrorists throwing explosives in a stadium filled with 80000 people on live television?

@mjorh:

I'm not a soldier or violent person either but I have read enough about what some of these Islamic extremist groups do to their captives to know I wouldn't want to be captured alive. You don't know what you are capable of until you do it but I might try to get them to shoot me dead by rushing them just to avoid torture. I was reading about that mall attack in Kenya and they did stuff like sharpening the victims fingers to the bone and making use them to write Koran verses in blood. I'm really hoping I never find myself in the type of situation where I have to chose between trying to get a quick death and staying alive as long as possible in the hope of rescue.

Perhaps in the short run. But if you continue to kick the hornets nest its going to rain shit down upon you, and in the end everyone will lose out. They've effectively enabled more western sentiment to support action against them.
