[QUOTE="MentalRej3ct"]I have question. I have Wi Fi laptop but I use my own LAN Modem. I noticed it said "Wireless Networks Detected" so I checked that, and I noticed someone in my neighborhood already has a wireless router (netgear and linksys) which I can use running on a 56k. Will I be able to use my DS wirelessly with that?sp0inK

If you are able to sucessfully connect to THEIR home network with your laptop, i think that your DS will be able to so do as well.

Ok thank you:D

ok i have an important question about the wifi on the DS:
i live in a compound where the administraton recently informed us that they could simply put in a hardware for our computer for 150$ and we can connect wirelessly to the internet for 30$ a month (if u find these numbers unusual to you, its because i live in lebanon in the middle east). so does that mean that my compound is a "hotspot" or so? could i use this to play wirelessly on my DS or it could be something else than WiFi or wireless internet?

Just go buy a wireless router for 50 bucks.

I think SBC has a DSL modem with a wireless router and something else built in it.

Yup, that means your compound is a hotspot which the DS can connect to.

im just wondering, can the DS make it through these username and password things? do i have to pay or something? if not then how can the DS connect to an internet that you have to pay for to use?

You're really making a simple matter more complicated.
Just go out and buy a 802.11g/b Wireless Router, it's really cheap. And you're done. :|

I'm not smart at all when it comes to routers and modems and R2D2s so I need some help. I just got a new computer a while ago and I still have dial-up until the 14th of september. I'll be using Shaw-High Speed cable internet. Do you think I'll be able to play properly? Do I need any extra hook ups or anything? Sorry I'm such a n00bwhen it comes to computers and please don't flame me.

Yes, from what i've heard Nintendo is making a USB device which will be plugged in directly into your PC's USB port.
What it'll do is to change your current Broadband connection into a WiFi signal which will then be picked up by your DS

In case you didn't notice, it's called a 'wireless' router.
Meaning no cables or anything at all.

Yes you'll need to connect your cable modem into your wireless router, unless your router already has a built in modem.
But no cables are required for the DS as it has built in WiFi.

So, if I have a router that reaches 150 feet and the DS, obviously, reaches to 100 feet then could i be 250 feet, 150 feet, or 100 feet from the router?

It all depends on the router, not the DS.

So, if I have a router that reaches 150 feet and the DS, obviously, reaches to 100 feet then could i be 250 feet, 150 feet, or 100 feet from the router?

I don't think so, because the DS itself is not sending out signals, but the router is. But I'm not 100% sure of that.

Just letting you all know, that if you Google "Nintendo WIFi", Nintendo WiFi, or Nintendo WiFI FAQ, this thread comes up as the second result! lol Sorry this is OT but it makes me feel special!! I'm sure there are other keywords it picked up here too

I know this sounds very stupid, but I have a connection through an ethernet cord and not usb... does that matter for the wireless router? Also, I see lots of routers in ads and stuff, and does it really matter what router you get? Can I just go and buy one... or do I have to buy a specific one according to my ISP or something? I read the first page, and I don't know what ADSL is, so not sure if I have that. I am kind of confused on the whole router thing.:(
