We still do not know, but I do expect to see it next year.
Capcom's goal for MH4 was to sell 2.8 million units during the first 7 months of release, but it surpassed that during the first few weeks. MH4 has been a huge success and they're already releasing it in South Korea. There's a good chance it'll be localized here as well.
I think it'll stay, or they'll release two versions, one with 3D and a cheaper one without.
3D may seem gimmicky for most and does waste battery life, but it gives some games that extra something that differentiates it from other consoles. When a developer knows how to implement 3D in their game, it turns out amazing.
@blaaksheep: Considering this game is being co-developed by Namco Bandai, I wouldn't be surprised to see Pac-Man as a newcomer. He used to be the most famous video game mascot and his games hugely impacted the video game industry back in the 80s. Pac-Man games have not been doing great recently and lost its charm outside of the arcade, but Pac-Man has an impressive legacy and I can't think of a third party character more worthy than him.
@ANIMEguy10034: Snake would not make his comeback as he's been consumed by age. Remember how it feels like to be him back in SSBB? he relied on the RPG as one of his special move, maybe he should've think twice about how useful an empty RPG is
But... it's a video game. The RPG had infinite ammo in Brawl and Old Snake kicked ass despite his age in MGS4. o.o
@Ovirew: There have been a lot of rumors and speculation going around about what Pokemon game we will see next (third game "Z", sequels, prequels, a hidden region east of Kalos, or Hoenn remakes), but it's safe to say that Generation 7 will not arrive anytime soon. They have not finished milking Gen 6 and won't be done for another 2 - 3 years.
@ANIMEguy10034: You say its too early but even Nintendo says they planned to reveal it at two separate occassions this year
I stand corrected about it being "too early," but I still believe we won't see Zelda Wii U on VGX, unless Miyamoto and/or Aonuma are also attending. It'll be a nice surprise, but I wouldn't have my hopes up.
Like I said before, once you save the image, you can crop or resize it to whatever you want. That's how some sites have "1080p" versions. They're not true 1080p because the pics from the original sources (Miiverse and SmashBros.com) are not in those dimensions. Scaling the image does hinder the quality, as shown by the noticeable pixelation on the bill of Luigi's hat in the image you provided earlier:@wii8461 said:
Here are my resized pics:
The first was originally 960x540 from a random site, the second was originally 800x450 from IGN's archives. Both scaled to 1920x1080 by my image editing tool. All three are identical.
I'll just be realistic and say that Captain Falcon, Jigglypuff (hopefully with new moves considering it's now a Fairy-type), Ness, and Yoshi will return because they have been unlockable characters since the original Smash Bros.
Falco or Wolf will either have a huge change in their fighting style or one of them will be cut out of the game. Sakurai and his team are more focused on balance than a large roster, therefore they want to differentiate characters as much as possible, just like how we're now seeing some noticeable differences between Toon Link and Link.
If they had to remove a Kirby character, it'll be King Dedede. He's not as relevant or popular as Metaknight.
Chrom will most likely replace Ike with a very similar fighting style.
Ganondorf's fighting style will change so it wouldn't be a Captain Falcon clone.
I don't think there will be more than four Super Mario characters, same goes for Zelda characters. Rosalina could be a potential Peach skin, like Daisy in Brawl.
Not sure about Dixie Kong, but she can easily be a Diddy Kong skin considering their similar body structure. Just like how there is a Male and Female Wii Fit Trainer.
Mr. Game and Watch will stay. There's no reason for him to be removed.
Snake is very questionable.
Lucario is EXTREMELY questionable. Lucario is well known for most Pokemon fans and now has a Mega Evolution. Same goes for Mewtwo and Blaziken. We previously thought Zoroark would replace Lucario, but that seems unlikely now.
Pokemon Trainer is questionable.
I see Ice Climbers returning.
R.O.B is questionable.
Lucas may be removed or will have a more unique fighting style.
It's available for anyone. Everytime Sakurai posts a new image on Miiverse, it's also posted on the official Smash Bros website. Just save the image and crop or resize to your heart's content.
Them not being 1080p depends on where you're looking at them. Some people post lower quality copies.
Btw, IGN has an archive of all daily images since June. It can help you find the image you're looking for.

Not sure if the thread is dead or not, but did you all hear about that Pokemon Battle Analyzer some hackers made?
what's a battle analyzer?
Looks like Rated Battles are down until further notice. I wonder if it has to do with Battle Analyzer.
I hope there's a way Gamefreak can counter Battle Analyzer. I find this more unfair than the amount of people who used pokegen on the DS games.
i hope more characters are confirmed, would be a massive let down to miss out on them. doesn't look good though, sakurai seemed almost apologetic when talking about the roster. i would rather they push the release back if they have to
Yeah, the character selection process has been the most stressful part of development for Sakurai and his team. The daily gameplay images does prove that they're hard at work and development is near its end. Hopefully we won't have three delays, like what happened with Brawl.
sakurai has said in an interview that they have had to limit the amount of characters and stages because of the release on 3DS. he feels having more characters/stages on the Wii version and not 3DS would be 'Rough' on the consumer. WTF! Brawl had 35 characters. well done on the inovation front
Captain falcon, Pokemon Trainer, Meta knight & Lucario all dropped, what a joke. hope im wrong about this
The former is true, the latter is wrong. Sakurai or anyone from Nintendo has not confirmed that Capt Falcon, Pkmn Trainer, Meta Knight, and Lucario were dropped from the game. Captain Falcon has been in the series since the beginning, therefore there's a high chance he'll be returning. Meta Knight has been a huge fan favorite Kirby character and I doubt he'll be removed. Pokemon Trainer and Lucario are questionable because aside from Pikachu and Jigglypuff, the pokemon characters have always been replaced.
Sakurai did mention that both 3DS and Wii U version will have the same amount of characters, but he never specified the amount of characters they're aiming for. He said that they're more focused on balance than the size of the roster. They want each character to have their own charm, personality and fighting style, trying to avoid the amount of clones Brawl had. We don't know if that means less than 35, exactly 35, or a bit more than 35. We only know that the roster won't drastically expand to Dragon Ball Z standards.
I really can't think of another way they can protect their younger audience without further hindering social communications on the Wii U and 3DS. This is why parents should be more involved with what their kids are doing online instead of leaving it up to Nintendo to do all the work. I'll use the Swapnote/Letterbox and Flipnote 3D fiasco as an example. Nintendo discontinued the spotpass feature of Swapnote, which was basically the main reason of having the app, and Flipnote's Friend Gallery service because too many minors were receiving offensive material, such as inappropriate drawings or photos. However, these same minors are the ones who added strangers' Friend Codes from gaming forums. Nintendo can not stop those children from adding people's friend codes, but parents can supervise who they're adding as "Friends". The internet, either on the computer or gaming online, will never be entirely safe for children. There will always be creeps, pedophiles, bullies, stalkers, and trolls in the shadows, awaiting for someone to catch their bait. It's impossible to prevent those people from buying a Nintendo console and games because any one of those can look like a normal person. I applaud Nintendo's concern, but I would rather have to look at really obvious online warnings for parents every time I turn on the system (with the option of taking it off in the System option, of course) than be punished for what a-holes are sending to little kids. Maybe also package an information booklet with every 3DS and Wii U, telling parents that online features can possibly be a bridge between their child and the cruel, disgusting people that plague the Earth and that the Parental Controls exist, in really big BOLD font, not at the end of the Operations Manual.
SS is in your top five Zelda games...?
How in the hell?@drekula2 said:
I don't get people ranking Wind Waker high either. The overworld was bad, the dungeons (Earth Temple aside) were bad. The enemy variety was bad. There weren't a lot of new items. It felt shallow.
The magical thing about having different opinions and preferences. :D
