Since you all probably have some large collections, I was wondering if any of you have seen the Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance which has a "mini hint guide included". It's the first time I've seen it, just wondering if it's limited - did it come out first or after the regular versions?

After seeing the screens, I'm thinking maybe Capcom should've left the license alone. Hulk and Iron Man look horrible; if these are screens of the final game I will say right now that I won't be picking it up. I'm not into fighting games and it was the beautiful animation from the old games that had me playing them.

Maybe comic book characters just don't look good in 3d?

Shrek 2 is a great game (multiplayer too). Depending on his skill level. But I'd say pick up one of the Sega compiliations. Kids that young are better off playing sidescrollers vs. 3d games.

If he likes GTA, get him Simpsons hit and run. It's a gta clone; he probably can't finish any of the missions but he can roam around on foot collecting stuff or hop into a car and drive around.

I've let kids play dynasty warriors also as long as they understand that the action is fake violence.

Bounty Hunter was AWESOME. The only thing is, last I remember it was a pretty expensive ps2 game.billyd5301
If you look at gamestop prices it is more expensive than Force Unleashed for the PS3. The battlefront games are good and they're cheap. I liked the first one more than the second. Lego star wars are so-so. I think they're overrated; great for kids but the game lacks challenge and gets kind of boring.

the graphics in the battles and the opening cutscene. I didn't like the characters much; too cliche. I wasn't really interested in the story. With the exception of the opening scene The cutscenes didn't wow me either.

The cutscene because of how they directed it, with the quick cuts from the train to the city. The graphics during battles were well animated and it was exciting to see FF enemies as 3d models. It was like playing with action figures vs. watching a cartoon.

I had asked this question a year back or so. I've yet to try Ace Combat. Check out skygunner for the PS2. Sometimes it's hard to find at a gamestop so ebay's your best bet.

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories

And watch the opening scene to it, now way you can find another GBA game that can do this!! EVER

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories Intro

Mister__Awesome

The intro cutscene is just pixelized video, it's not the gba producing the graphics. Castlevania looks excellent. Treasure games are always nice to look at. I thought the crash games on the gba looked nice. Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance is pretty good too - looks very similar to the Dark Alliance games on the home consoles.

I bought used component cables for $10 and I think they're worth it. I'm playing on a 48" DLP HDTV and I probably sit around 8ft or so back and I notice the improvements. I have to disagree on using an SD tv. You miss out on a lot of the graphical details i.e. subtle colors, shading, etc.

The SNES had more games and was better in graphics so you got the better system. You have to give chrono trigger a try; the story and characters are simple and it has a lighter tone than the FF games, which try to be very serious. And the battle system makes it one of the best turn based rpgs ever. But the Genesis had the Streets of Rage series which I think was the best beat'em up between the two systems. The graphics on the Genesis look more grittier and dark since it couldn't portray as much colors. Buying older games in big lots should make it a lot cheaper I'd think. Try eBay.

I had a fat PS2 and I tried playing 2 different copies and both froze. Granted I bought both games from Gamestop so they weren't in mint condition. The game is just a buggy mess and I think buying from Gamestop is the best choice. They have a 30 day guarantee so if the game freezes or anything, you can always go and return it.
