[QUOTE="voxware00"]you people aren't explaining what game you played using it and why you thought it was inferior(or overrated, ie a lot of people are saying this game is superior with the wiimote)

how would it be over rated for tennis... the game uses no buttons, and has enough depth to do everything you can do in rockstar table tennis

madden for example also... the wii with no online or next gen graphics had the best version of madden
the wii has 2 "best" multi plats, where as the ps3... has zero.. does that say anything?
whoisryanmack
it says alot about ps3, not so much about the remote tho. and i think we're all talking "on the whole", not just specific games. sure, it works great for tennis, but grand theft auto? maybe, maybe not.

it says the remote has the ability to simplify a game's controls while still keeping the core mechanics deep... this is truly mainly for sports games..
can we judge if the remote is really 'overrated' for gta yet.. or other genres that we simply haven't seen fully developed yet

if the wiimote is overrated, then what's the cell?or the emotion engine?

i dont think the problem is the lack of titles not using 1:1 sensing is all

if we never wanted to evolve controllers and stick to how we traditionally play games, we'd all be playing with an atari pong paddle....

im sorry but when i played hl2 i didn't get the impression it was made to be an "intense shooter" with intense combat... maybe counterstrike.. but hl2 (and even hl) has been more about survival...
infact, so many of the single player areas being scripted so great, it's much better than the wash rinse repeat cycle of the regular firstpersonsnoozefest
maybe its a havik and source demo, but i was just happy i wasnt playing Yet Another Realistic Shooter Game
mainly, i was more excited from the potenital i saw in the game... the ability to have puzzles in a fps added a fresh change of pace... i wish there was more you could do, but i was able to plan plenty of things in my head so atleast it has the ability to show the potenital of involving environments in shooters much more

so heres my guess
by pc standards, theres games with good online and tons of mods already out.. and then theres halo
would you rather buy a game with crap online and crap mods just because ITS HALO DUDE.. or would you rather buy something with an engine designed for mods and you know.. online
why did it score aaa... who knows, especially since the best thing about halo was co op...

i hate when people know nothing about mods
ive worked on one for more than 4 yrs, had it published in several magazines internationally such as pc gamer

infact, dont even call them mods, a lot of them are total conversions
just checkout esforces.com... yeah the graphics are hl1 quality but its amazing how theyve completely changed the game
they dont even have to be 1st or 3rd person shooters, they can make them any type of game
cheats... more like free games that you yourself can influence just by joining the community and submitting your concepts and criticism

[QUOTE="yo_foo"][QUOTE="voxware00"][QUOTE="yo_foo"][QUOTE="AvIdGaMeR444"]

[QUOTE="yo_foo"]I'm sick of people talking about how INNOVATIVE the Wiimote is. Sure it's different to what is available now but hardly innovative OR Original.

Let me get this straight. This is fact:

Sheep have been saying the Sixaxis is a rip off of the Wiimote. Now we all know that is incorrect. BUT Sheep are forgetting the most important thing. The Wiimote IS a rip off of Microsoft. Yes I'm sure you all know this. But do you choose to remember? The Freestyle Pro. Back in 1998.

But. How?

OK so you're all thinking "Old News. We've heard that before! Yo_Foo come up with something new..." Well I have. And I have formed this argument why the Wii will not beat the PS3. And most importantly - Why those folks that say the Wiimote is more innovative than the Sixaxis are WRONG!

First I'll state that the Sixaxis is actually different to the Wiimote. NOT a rip off of Nintendo's Rip off. The sixaxis uses six degrees of freedom. Something that has not been used with the Wiimote. Sony has a totally new idea than just regular motion sensing that nintendo has ripped off.

The unreleased game Lair will allow players to control a dragon wit hthe tilt of your wrists and allow the player to use their hands to pull back on the controller simulating pulling back on the Dragon's reins to pull the dragon up from a dive. Realistic yes? But it doesn't feel like your holding an uncomfortable remote control in your hand. Oh no. It feels like your holding a regular controller. But this is no regular controller. This is the SIXAXIS.

But alas Nintendo are basing their whole console around one unoriginal controller that, from past history shows us, gained popularity but soon fell to the limited opportunities available. Besisdes when the fad does where off, you can just turn of the PS3s Motion Sensing. But for the Wii, you'll have to buy a whole new set of controllers.

Those that say "History states..." History states this - Motion Sensing was a fad. And now its a fad again. But when people get over it, they'll focus on buying a console for their range of games, not because of a remote control.

Then people say "In Wiisports you can use the controller to swing a tennis racquet...etc." But this has nothing to do and does not prove that the Wiimote is more innovative than the Sixaxis because it only shows what developers have done with the technology, not the innovation of the technology.

:'(

Blackbond

Please, oh please tell me your a fakeboy, because Wiimote has much better motion-sensing control than sixaxis.

no it doesn't. i've proved that is hasn't. :'(

you've proved the sixaxis is better than the wiimote with motion?
what happened to "where di I ever say that the Sixaxis is more innovative than the Wiimote?"
and i didnt use the word innovative
"what makes the six axis superior to the wiimote, if the wiimote is not more innovative than the six axis"

anyways, here's how the wiimote innovated what the six axis didn't....
the wiimote allows gamers to play not only without dual analog fuss.. but dual hand fuss... heck, wii tennis requires no buttons but players can still do anything they could do to a tennis ball with a racket
not only did the sidewinder lack a sensorbar and a pointer, but it didn't create a console based entirely around motion... leaving it useful for just... racing games, and flight games...

anyways, if the wii gets no 'innovative' credit for being the first console to fully support motion
microsoft gets no credit for being the first company to deliver an online service to a home console...

no. Tell me where i said the sixaxis is better than the wiimote? They are the same on innovation. :'(

Um here

http://www.gamespot.com/pages/profile/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=m-100-24738368&user=yo_foo

good find
"Wiimote: The most expensive on the market. $20 more than the Sixaxis."
60 is 20$ more than 50? i'm confused...

"Highly innovative.  Six degrees of freedom is new to gaming and
motion sensing will open up a load of opportunity to game designers. "

it's not a fad now..

as he's said.. microsoft has done what the sixaxis has done before
therefore.. it's not innovative... his definition
now nintendo adds two previously used technologies, adds dual sensors , etc... and the ability for 1 handed games
the best sony added is the ability to turn motion sensing off... that i give them credit for
but nintendo did more in terms of motion, taking a risk on a new design that frees your hands apart, and allows some games to be played more simply

but they're not
because sony's is just the same as microsoft's
and nintendo's has dual sensors, plus a pointer, plus other junk

and you ignored my entire post...
the wii innovates with 1 handed controls and 2 handed sensors by using a combination of 2 previously known technologies
the sixaxis does nothing the sidewinder didn't

while the wii isn't original because the lightgun and tilting have been done before
it's the first home console to combine these, as well as add a second hand for tilting, and designed their primary controller to work single handedly for select games

sony on the other hand couldn't do what my wario twisted does.. motion plus rumble
