Im trying to get a machine that can blow games like crysis away when they are fully modded. My dad has a 1gb card and can only play crysis on high settings until it slows down. Would it be different hardware that would do that?yentlequible
Absolutely. You should also take whatever his CPU and RAM are into consideration. Those can limit performance as well. CPU/RAM/GPU is the triangle of parts that can hold performance back.

Yeah, I hate those sneaky programs that try to masquerade as an antivirus/antispyware program when they are really a virus/spyware themselves. Looks like you've already solved your problem, but for future reference, don't ever download a program like that again unless it is reputable. Ask on the forums first because the product websites often have fake testimonials.

[QUOTE="gamer082009"]I feel like it's weird that they'd look at the reviews for determining that the game has been a "critical success!" Usually that's determined by the consumers. Jaysonguy

No, that's never determined by the consumers

Critical success means a success with the critics so it can't apply to anything else

This. "Critical" success. Critics. Critical. See the link there? They didn't say anything about it being a *financial* success yet. Ratings = critical. Sales = financial.

So does this engineer update have a release window, or is it a "it's done when it's done" in typical Valve fashion?

Mine was around 8 gigs after all the updates and custom content that a lot of servers make you download (though you can set it so it doesn't download that stuff). The community is as strong as ever, and should get a boost with the upcoming engineer update and subsequent sale.General_X
That's what I was referring to. Unless they just meant that the engineer update is going to make a lot of people buy it.

TF2 is $20.00 currently. Did you say that it will be going on sale for even cheaper??

I can get a solid 60 just about everywhere but Dalaran or a 25m when everyone decides to AoE at the same time. I don't find any point in turning v-sync off, because you can't tell the difference between 60 and 140 frames. However, you will notice the tearing you can get with having it off. Also, ram is pretty important when it comes to WoW. It's a pretty memory hungry game, and I found that getting more was very beneficial.

I really think the term "future proofing" is silly. Tech advances so quickly, especially in the pc gaming area, that anything that *was* bleeding edge when it came out will be outdated in a few months. I'm sure it will perform well though. I've never seen the point in going above mid-high level parts since you get the bulk of the performance and often save a significant chunk of cash. If you want to have the best of the best in your PC, that is usually a very short lived status and a very expensive one.

verizon fios FTW....

25 Mbps download, 25 Mbps upload, no limits.

I don't know if you guys have it in canada but it's the best internet service that i've ever had. I routinely get 2 mb/s download speeds from steam.

How much does that run you a month?
