No the psu isnt enough, the 430w only has One 6 pin pci-e power cable. Which means that you would have to use power adapters to draw power from sections of the psu that usnt meant to supply that much power. Trust me that 430w isnt enough for a 5850 to be safely used.04dcarraheryeah, you'd have to use a molex to PCI-e cable. I'll trust the fact that I've seen use more powerful cards and more powerful cpus on an equal psu instead.
Also Phenom 2 is the better option04dcarraheragain, opinion. sure I'd rather have it, but I wouldn't pay the difference for it.
its faster simply put, and it wont hold a 5850 back04dcarraheryeah, its faster. I don't think an athlon ii x4 would hold back a 5850 much, anyway.
For $100 moreNVIDIATIyou can't count rebates, and there's no shipping.
2x Sapphire 5770 1GB Crossfire > XFX 5850 1GBNVIDIATImost games. since I like more monitors I would like (2) 5770s for my main PC, but for others I'd like a 5850 instead.
anyway, I was just showing a good PC that doesn't cost too much.
Again Change the psu, a 430w psu isnt smart for use for a 5850., change the cpu to a Phenom 2 955, and the case. and you would have a much better Pc.04dcarraherno doubt in my mind that psu is good enough for a 5850. "much better" is an opinion I don't agree with. :P I respect your advice and your recommendations.
O boy, turning a blind eye? lower the resolution shows the cpu's true strengths and shows if the cpu is bottlenecking the gpu.04dcarrahergames use the gpu more at higher resolutions. you know this.
The GTX 460 uses less power then a 5850....04dcarrahernot when you overclock it ot get to 5850 levels. then the 5850 uses less power.
If there can be that big of a difference between two cpu's with the same gpu then you know that the Athlon X4 will hold back the 5850 enough where a Phenom 2 and GTX 460 can out pace them.04dcarraherno, I don't know that. I can always be convinced. show a 1080p bench.
