@brn-dn: I agree. It hasn't been hyped, except for the people playing the game and loving it.

Websites have largely ignored Battleborn, and now, it seems, don't understand it.

It boggles my mind when people say they don't understand Battleborn, and the amount of action confuses them. Sure, it's a riot of colour, sounds and action, but (and let's be simple here for the knuckle-draggers) YOU SHOOT PEOPLE.

So, from watching the video review, I'm basically left assuming you've marked Battleborn down to a 7 because you don't understand it, or that you find it confusing, and aren't able to get past that. Am I about right here? Because, other than that, you seemed to really like it. You really seemed to be nitpicking to find flaws.

You mention it has too few modes, yet it has as many as Overwatch (maybe less maps - but does that matter), and it has a co-op campaign that Overwatch doesn't have.

And where's the mention of the fantastic gear system and the buildables on the maps? Both of these are ideas that really enhance Battleborn and are not really existent in other FPS/MOBA crossovers.

We'll see what score Overwatch gets, but I have this almighty feeling that Gamespot are going to somewhat contradict themselves and further enhance my feelings that the big sites are firmly in Blizzard's pockets.

I love Gearbox...11pm the day before...

...shame I'm at work till 8 the next morning and that the postie hasn't delivered my game yet, eh? /cries

But this really is fantastic. So many developers plump Europe in with American release times, so we have to wait till somewhere between dinner and bedtime for games to release.

I'm so damn excited for this release.

@andfx8: At Moviespot...but it's been losing people lately. :D

Seriously, though, I stopped using Gamespot as much a while back because I thought the quality of the site had sunk in to the mire. It has gotten better so I'm back. Seeing a lot of movie news, though. I'm curious why they feel the need to broaden in to movies.

We gonna have a book club next month?

When did Gamespot become a movies site? Trying to outdo Moviespot, or something?

You sound a little happy, Randy. :)

Glad Gearbox, and the much criticised Battleborn, got a full theatre. Suck it doubters!

@Barighm: I disagree. What the game had was perhaps simplified, but it was still a loot system. As much as I love the Borderlands games, the sheer amount of loot could often be a pain.

I was really rather impressed with the way the loot worked in Battleborn. There was even an option to allow players to choose to traditional gameplay stats in favour of either boosting their ability to create buildables or to gain more crystals.

@joshrmeyer: But the Borderlands games are essentially linear, too. The variation in those games comes from the availablilty of side quests that can have you moving around different zones. You can think of the campaign in Battleborn as pretty much just a main questline from Borderlands.

With Battleborn you can play a Borderlands-style PvE questline and hop in to some multiplayer in the same game.

Plenty of places are offering the game at less than the standard price (if you're in the UK go to Game), if people are worried that it's £40/$60. The game wasn't perfect, perhaps. There were some matchmaking issues in the beta, but if they fix that then I'd say you can't go wrong for a shooter that offers both a PvE campaign and multiplayer PvP matches.

That's way more than Overwatch, and I paid the same price for Battleborn.

@krazyorange: PC Gamer did the same last year. Guess what, it was Tom. Yes, he got hounded just as much as he is here.

Some years back there was a UK PC mag called PC Zone. In that mag there was a guy whom I think went by the name of Steve Hill (it was definitely Hill). He lived and breathed Football Manager. Find him, he'll do you a proper review.

The comment at the bottom saying the game is still too slow is a joke, surely? It can be. To me, though, that is the beauty of FM. It samples the football world so well because it contains so much.
