@chano880: It's not the score, it's the lack of any real understanding that peeves me off. I have no problem with Overwatch. I signed up for the beta when it was announced.

I just feel Battleborn is a mighty fine game and a credit to originality in the way it tries to meld styles in a way rarely done. Developers aren't really brave enough to do that too much.

But Gamespot, through what I believe is a combination of not really getting the game and a rather pushy nature towards Overwatch (those two Lobby videos discussing the two games are 20 out of 10 on the bias scale), haven't really done their job of being impartial games journalists.

In my opinion. I'd just hate to see something so original be swept under the carpet.

@jeffieblaze: Then, and judging by your grammar, perhaps you should try it. ;)

@vinion2000: Overwatch? MOBA elements? I've seen a lot of bad comparisons with this competition between games, but not heard OW described as having MOBA elements.

I wouldn't even say BB is strictly a MOBA. It does have MOBA elements though.

@joshrmeyer: Yeah, I can understand that. Sorry if I came across a little over-aggressive. I respect your decision, but just meant to try and influence you a little towards Battleborn. We Battleborn have gotta do what we can. :)

@joshrmeyer: Have you even watched/tried the game, or are you just taking Gamespot's words for gospel?

There will be another Borderlands, it's been pre-announced, but if you loved the Borderlands style then Battleborn will be for you. Borderlands was always hectic, colourful and funny. Battleborn is too.

Don't believe what you hear about the game being messy and confused about what it does. It's really quite simple. Aim your cursor and shoot when it turns red. Whether you hit a player or a minion you're doing something for the team.

@jinzo9988: You're probably right, but that doesn't excuse reviews that don't even discuss important features of the game or bias from other members of Gamespot in discussion videos.

@dariomeznari: That's the irony, isn't it? People don't have the maturity to try to, or want to, understand a game that attempts to be a little more complex and compelling than the run of the mill treadmill of games. For this reason it must be rubbish...or niche.

Battleborn has its faults, but at least it's trying to be something original, trying to mould something interesting from a number of genres. I guess that in this medium developers will lose out for trying to be original.

@megakoresh: Yes, Gamespot et al are sites designed to bring in the viewer, but that doesn't excuse them from living up to some sort of moral code when it comes to reviewing a title, or even to giving it fair discussion.

Linked to this video is a live recorded discussion of Battleborn with three members of the Gamespot team. They discussed the pros and cons of the game, and I'm unbiassed enough to say that they were reasonably fair, even if I can't understand how they are so programmed to have so much trouble understanding what is going on.

Linked to that video was another live recorded discussion. This time it was for Overwatch. They discussed almost the same things for Overwatch as they did for Battleborn (bar, perhaps the busyness of the game) and you know what they said? Yes, you got it in one, they loved it.

I do think Battleborn is the better game, but I will judge a discussion between the two with unbias. Gamespot aren't.

As for the busyness of the game, well I don't see it as a problem. I've put 18 hours in now and I can honestly say I knew what was going on by my second or third match. Sure, I'm improving and I'm seeing benefit now in things I wouldn't have done three matches in (such as building minions).

I'd almost be willing to put money on Gamespot giving Overwatch a 9 or a 10 and marking it up for the same things they marked Battleborn down for. It's sickening. Whatever their advertising or viewer retention needs, they have an obligation to be fair and unbiased. They're games reviewers, not studio reviewers.

@megakoresh It sounds like I'm angry at you, or disagreeing completely with you, but I'm not. You made fair points. I'm just angry at the way these sites work.
