Looks like another announcement from E3 that is going to disappoint many people. At least knowing I do not have to buy it which will leave room for other games.

I am not someone who knows a ton about these laws and what not, but if a game is in beta testing, is it still classified as a finished complete game on the market, or is the company just using actual players as play testers before the final version comes out ?

If it is not classified as a final complete game, and is still in testing during a beta, regardless if actual people are playing it that are not employed by the company would things not be a little backwards here.

Then you can look at when games are announced if you want. Pubg began development in the beginning of 2016 if I have the correct information. Fortnite was announced in 2011 at the Spike video game awards.

People may then bring up the who battle royal, no respawn portion of the gameplay. Perhaps some may not remember all the shooters created well before either of these games that had multiplayer Last Man Standing gameplay modes. That certainly sounds very familiar to what both these games are doing if you ask me.

For the record I do not play either PUBG or Fortnite, may game tastes have changed over the years and they do not appeal to me. I thought I would just people out a few things for people to maybe consider.

Many moons ago I came to the realization that being a hardcore fan of franchises be it marvel, starwars or any other numerous series' that come out and expecting amazing things every time was setting my expectations too high. When it comes to things like superhero movies for example, I have been a major fan for a long time since comic books, cartoons and so on, but when they make a movie its story deviates, things aren't done how I would want them, so now I just go in treating movies as just a sci-fi movie, or action movie or what have you.

Too many franchises are trying to be milked way too long, and some fresh new things would be nice. Unfortunately when someone tries to make something new the vast majority of the time it instantly gets compared to older more established franchises and essentially being put down because its not the same. Damned if you do, damned if you don't kind of situation.

@mickeman: Dr. Phil yeah lol. I'm a certified chef in Canada. 70% of the people I work and have worked with all had or have addiction issues more severe that a video game. More or less people need to just grow up.

So petitioning to ban a single game, regardless if it started as a joke still seems senseless. There are plenty of other games out there that people are addicted to as well. I'm sure if you actually looked at the amount of time spent on a game across all systems world wide, there are many other games that surpass the grand totals of Fortnite. CoD is a massively popular game, wheres the petition for that for example, what about people that have been playing games from the Final Fantasy series since the beginning which was around 1987.

Being an adult you are allowed to make your own choices, be it a positive one or negative one. Perhaps people should be asking them selves what is fundamentally wrong in their relationships that their partner would rather play a video game than spend time with them. Blaming your shortcomings in your relationship on a video game is just an excuse to alleviate your own issues that you do not want to accept that are actually there.

Addictions to video games, sure it is a real thing for people. Maybe some should count their blessings that its a video game, not alcohol, drugs, gambling and so on, the list can pretty much go on forever about things people are addicted to. Perhaps growing up and not acting like a child as opposed to an adult is the first step for a lot of people.

Regarding kids, parents can simply limit the activity, that's part of your job as a parent raising a child. Some might forget your not their friend, your their parent, and teaching discipline, self control and how to manage priorities is part of raising a child to live in this world once they have grown up.

So the Rhode Island state representative wants to put additional tax and violent games and what not. The real question I have is why don't these politician's actually focus on the current laws that are present in their state and get that in order instead of creating more laws that are just as idiotic. If I recall right Rhode Island has a law that says No one may bite off anothers leg. Again just going from memory there is one more that says any marriage where either parties is an idiot or a lunatic is null and void. Am I the only one that think that sounds a little idiotic to still have laws like that ? Because if they are truly still laws, would some of these politician's need to be investigated for that second one ?

To me its seems like a lack of common sense on many of these violence related topics pertaining to video games and movies that have sprung up lately. I grew up playing video games and watching movies that had violence and I have no desire to go out and harm anyone or anything like that because of a game or a movie I have watched. I'm not sure if it has occurred to any of these politicians that access to guns and the gun control laws do not seem to be doing their job very well. Don't get me wrong I legally own guns as I am a hunter, without ever even considering pointing a weapon at another human being.

I believe Trump had said something about needing control boards for video games and movies. I do not think he realizes that they already exist as self regulated entities already. Pertaining to charging extra tax on violent games does not make sense at all. Many questions can be raised such as does it apply to movies in theaters, on dvd and even digital downloads not to mention streaming services as well.

With regulations in place already to help control who can watch things when, it ultimately comes down to parents allowing their children to watch or play these forms of entertainment as well. Being someone that has worked in video game retail in the past, I have seen many parents coming in and buying Call of Duty for example for a 12 year old kid. We never sold these games to anyone that even looked under 17 years old and if it was border line to we asked for ID.

I read that they think they should also impose fines for selling to under age people and I firmly believe that should be done. Being Canadian we have a liquor control board that imposes fines on selling alcohol to under age people. Laws are laws when it comes down to it and some things are very black and white so to speak when it comes to laws with no room for a grey area and I personally feel doing something like that is acceptable with fines being imposed.

People that are influenced negatively based on video games and movies and take violent actions such as shootings and things like that already had a mental health issue to begin with which has either not been diagnosed or has been escalated by these things because some peoples parents/guardians/caregivers were not doing their job properly.

Of course I understand people may disagree with some of these views, which is completely fine as everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I just think people need to look at the root of the cause as opposed to just trying to single 1 thing out instead to solving the problem as a whole.

For me, I originally started watching it because it was about the zombies and survival against them. When the human element was introduced with the Gov I started to be less interested, not to the point I do not want to watch it. Other shows have started to take priority over it because of that.

Don't get me wrong it is still a decent show and there are only so many things you can do the zombie survival idea that you need to start using other elements to try and keep the show, or any show for that matter interesting. When it comes to TV shows in general I find the longer the show runs for the less interested I become. I feel this is mostly to the fact that when a show hits its peak, expectations stay high and most things are measured against your favorite situation, episode or what have you which in turn is what makes people start to find their interest lowering regardless of the show you are watching. Very few shows keep a persons interest from start to finish, some manage to, some don't, that's just how entertainment works for most people. I like to watch a show right to the very end if I start it, just how I am regardless of how much interest I am maintaining with any show.

Alright I can understand some people are addicted to video games, not news there. Kind of like almost anything else nowadays. However I am kind of surprised "Cell Phone Addictions" isn't something yet. Where I live in Canada you always see 75% of people walking down the street staring at their phones, or the grocery store, just sitting in their car and numerous other places. The majority of people constantly have one in their hand, be it playing games, using the internet, send texts and so on and so forth. So many people constantly say they cannot live without their phone, yet that is not a problem ? Excuses will always be made for their own behavior, unwilling to accept that they are addicted to something, human nature I would think, denial, perhaps. Obviously I am on Gamespot, so I am a gamer as well, have been for many, many years, however it does not impede my live in anyway, it passes time when I am bored. I personally think some gamers tend to use gaming as a crutch to help them escape a boring mediocre life they are not happy with and instead of trying to improve their situation, they sit down infront of the TV to play games to feel some sort of success in their life when reality is less than ideal in their minds. Just a thought there.
