So, I think this is something we can all relate to: an obsession with a particular artist or band.

For me, this happened pretty recently. Through my entire childhood and teenage years, I never had any particular taste towards a certain genre of music. Then, once I hit my 20s, I became reminiscent about Greek music, since those are the types of songs that reminded me of my youth.

One day, about a year ago, I stumbled upon a Greek artist called Padelis Padelidis. Initially, I just thought of him as a typically good Greek musician. The fact that he was self-made Youtube artist who wrote his own songs and lyrics only added to the admiration. Unfortunately, he died at the tender young age of just 32 in a car accident, where alcohol was involved. This was in 2016.

As time went on, I gradually began to listen to him more and more, until I finally realized that I just got stuck in good old fashioned "obsessed" territory for the first time. I now listen to his songs multiple times a day, and when they released a new single a few months ago, well, let's just say it was stuck on repeat for a few days straight.

What about you guys? Any artists who have made their mark on you? Any tips to get unstuck from this phase? As much as I love Padelidis, I figure there's so much more to discover and to know, so there's no sense staying stuck with the same artist for months on end.

Here's a short clip of him singing a song called Θυμαμαι (I remember)

@PSP107: I've dabbled with AutoCad, but my main tool for now is SolidWorks. Hoping to learn CATIA soon as well.

It depends on what you define as techniques. I'm studying engineering myself, and have some friends who are studying in Civil Engineering (bridges and the like).

From what we've learned, the regulations of the industry at that time are the ones you must follow through the entire development process. Say you started building a bridge in 2010, but the rules regarding load constraints got updated in 2013, then you would continue with 2010 rules. This is because, once development starts, it is very hard to make big changes to a project. Most of the important criteria, like length of the bridge and width, are locked in almost immediately. It would prove very costly to update the design, and might even be dangerous. If you start mixing new and old regulations, you can get confusion and miscommunication, which can lead to a dangerous design, and accidents.

However, it's still possible to upgrade techniques when it comes to manufacturing and construction. Say someone discovers a technique which lays concrete 25% faster. If you haven't started your construction yet, then that technique can be employed instead, which will save the project money.

Once construction has started, it becomes a logistical nightmare to switch methods. Once the workers and managers have a set routine, it is often left as is, even if more efficient processes are discovered.

@hockey73: My ideal weight may be around 165 ish? I really don't have much experience with this, but I do know I want to gain some mass in the form of muscle. Like I said, mostly in the core/chest area. Do you have any advice on what to eat in particular to try and achieve that weight?

@hockey73: Ah, I figured that "abs are made in the kitchen" was true. I basically need bulk at this point though. My problem is a high metabolism. I weigh 155 lbs and am 5'10", so it's not like I am underweight, but I have no mass to turn into muscle. I have a pretty slim figure except for a small-ish bump on my stomach. My ideal goal would be to flatten out the stomach to get the abs to show, and also to bulk up the chest to get it to show.

I haven't done a body fat evaluation, so that's an interesting fact you pointed out. I'll have to check it out.

Currently going to the gym and doing cardio three times a week. A bit difficult to juggle with university, but good overall health and form can only help with all life aspects, so it's a sacrifice I have to make.

When I go the gym, I basically do all major muscle groups (back, shoulders, arms, legs, chest, core), 2 muscle groups per session, so 6 for the whole week. Then when I get back home, I hit the elliptical and run a mile in 20 minutes with an intensity variation throughout.

Since I started training regularly back in Christmas, I have noticed improvements in strength and form, mainly in the arms and legs. Chest and core have seen strength improvements, but still can still be improved looks wise. Though I have heard that improving the look of muscles has more to do with diet than anything else, so that is the next step I have to improve. I currently eat too much red meats, though I do get a decent amount of fruits and vegetables.

Quite a few games generate emotions for me, but only a select few actually get me feeling like a wreck/on the verge of tears.

- The Walking Dead Season 1 and 2, but especially 1. That ending scene just tore me apart. The entire season was a roller coaster of emotions, and it all just came crashing down at the last scene. Fantastically written series!

- Any game of the Mass Effect trilogy. I was basically a kid when I played Mass Effect 2's suicide mission, and that had me hyped up to the moon and back. Mass Effect 3 had the most feels though. Whether it was leaving Earth, making that final push with the fleets to Earth. But the most poignant for me was Mordin's sacrifice. It was made all the more impactful because Mordin really reminds me of myself, in terms of goals and personality. The very model of a scientist salarian ... :'(

- The Last of Us also had some great moments. I've forgotten most of the game, but I just remember this feeling of emptiness when I finally beat the game, in the sense of "Wow, I'll never has this experience again" The soundtrack in that final mission just sealed the deal. From the giraffes to running for your life in the hospital.

- Dragon Age Inquisition just had one particular moment of note, and that was the mission In Your Heart Shall Burn. One of the most emotionally impactful missions Bioware has ever created. Seeing your home base get wrecked, everyone separated, surviving by a thread, and everyone gathering for an epic journey to discover Skyhold. Up until that point, I was doubting whether Bioware was still able to pull off missions of heavy emotion. When this mission came up, I said "Yes baby, Bioware is back!!!"

@saintsatan: Damn, that is one monster PC! ROG Swift is great from what I've heard, and with 2 GTX 1080s, you'll be set for a long while. 9.5/10, only curious as to why you need 32 GB of RAM and at 3200. Kind of overkill, but to each his own :)

As for me, a bit more modest of a build. Made it last summer for gaming at 1080p. Wanted to max out all settings and have it play games at decent settings for at least a few years.

Plenty of moments: Ending for The Last of Us, Tresspasser DLC for Dragon Age Inquisition, seeing Revan's final moments in SWTOR, etc.

However, my top sad moment would have to be Mordin Solus dying in Mass Effect 3 for the genophage cure. Manly tears were shed for my fellow scientist salarian :(

@jun_aka_pekto: And you would be correct. The Greco-Persian war I was referring to came after the Peloponnesian wars (I think...), but war between the various Greek city states was common all the time. Thanks for the correction :)
