[QUOTE="Vuurk"]The thing you have to understand, is that virtually everyone in this country has access to running water and electricity. That alone makes you better off than the VAST majority of humans throughout the history of the world. As Louis CK said, "Everything's amazing, yet nobody's happy". Stop focusing on what you don't have and be thankful for how fvcking easy our modern lives are. theone86

As much as I hate to admit it, I have to agree with Vuurk. There is some very extreme poverty out there and even some of the poor in our country has it good when you consider that a good portion of the world lives on less than one dollar a day, and I believe around half lives on less than two. That being said, I'm not going to call the poor in this country whiners. We're one of the richest countries in the world, and we still have people living on the street, not able to feed their children, and so much more. What I think the takeaway from these facts is is that there are people building domiciles the same area as Versailles when there are still people going hungry in this country and people who live in crushing poverty in other countries. I also think the middle class in this country is a little spoiled in this regard. We b*chand moan about five dollar gas and high taxes, and yet we have all this great infrastructure when some people don't even have water that we would call potable in this country. Still, the worst in this regard are the people who make billions upon billions of dollars by exploiting people who are living in poverty, turn around and complain about high taxes while they build their palaces at the same time that working Americans are struggling to stay afloat, and then turn around and act as if the people who are just trying to earn a living are the ones who are the problem because they're "entitled."

I remember a news story years ago about people from Russia watching the movie 'The Grapes of Wrath'. They were amazed at what was considered poor by the family represented in the movie, having a car and such. They thought it was such a higher standard than their level of poverty.

But I think its best to be poor in countries like the UK. I think they have a common phrase for it, like 'living off the dole' or something more specific.

i was surprised the girl that got a degree in mathematics couldn't find a job, that's just nuts

i think if you're going into medicine, engineering or programming your skills are still valuable in the market, now on the other hand i don't think sociology, liberal arts and the sort which are kinda useless in the market are worth the money

She also might be a really crappy interviewie. People forget handling the interview process is important. There is a lot of competition out there, and if you suck at the interview, you aren't going to go very far no matter how good your grades are.

Eh only thing good about that rank 2008 movie was the .50 Cal scene and that's it. chilly-chill

Thats like saying the only good thing about the Avengers was the action scenes...(Snap! Not a good argument because that's true)

2008 Rambo was excellent I thought. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.
