When i click next and select the new harddrive it tells me " Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. See the Setup log files for more information". I have a yellow sun like button that is for I believe for creating a partition and then I can choose size and apply but I'm not sure how much to set the size to.

So my old harddrive crapped out on me few days ago. I ordered a similar harddrive from newegg and I recieved it yesterday. Today I installed it into my netbook which doesnt have a cd/dvd drive. So I had to put a windows 7 home premium 64bit file onto the thumb drive. Today I tried installing it by booting the instalation from the thumbdrive. However once I get to the point where I have to select a place to install my windows it has only one place, my newely installed harddrive. My harddrive is named "Disk 0 unallocated space", I'm not sure if its supposed to be like that. However I have a yellow little triangle on the bottom saying "windows cannot be installed to this disk". When I click on that i get a window saying "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. this computers hardware may not support booting to this disk. ensure that the disks controller is enabled in the computers bios menu". I went through the bios menu but I couldnt see anything about enabling harddrive, I did go in and change the primary boot to thumb drive, but I didnt see anytnig about enabling.

So please guys if someone can help me I'd be eternally grateful, I just want this thing to work. If you have any questions just post them here and I'll check tonight since I have to go to class now. If someone has run into the same problem and solved it please let me know.

The problem I'm having in changing them out is that p9 and p8 sockets are different between the psu wires. THe 300w one has flat and wide while 250w has wide rectangular pin and plugs. My original 300w PSU died and I'm trying to replace it. Sorry if I'm not being clear but to me it seems that 250w PSU has older cables on it.

My computer wont turn on and a light blinks on my PSU even when I pull the plug form the back. I'd assume that this this means that my PSU is dead, am I corect?

How much was you planning on spending if you were to upgrade?PyroMiner23
I really dont want to spend too much I was thinking of getting a graphics card for $150 max. I'll probably end up getting a new computer within a year. I really dont play games on my computer but I'm interested in buying BF3 for it.

[QUOTE="dejo256"]

Well I bought my desktop a year and a half ago and I'm just wondering if I have to upgrade it to play the upcoming games. I really am not expecting to play them on high but low to medium is fine with me.

Computer is a windows 7, it has a amd phenom 9600 quad core proccessor which is running at 2.30 ghz, Computer also has 4 gigs of ram (I'm not sure what type or kind) and a ATI HD3200 onboard graphics card.

Now I know I def have to get a new graphics card, but I was wondering if the rest of the computer is way outdated. I plan on playing BF3.

Your CPU will probably be a hindrance as well. Do you have a budget we can work with

Yeah I was worried I'd have to upgrade the CPU as well. Well thanks anyway, I guess I'll be playing it on xbl.

You could benefit from a CPU upgrade although you have to get a decent video card first.

What PSU do you have?

Is there a tech checking it, right now, why not? They can't check everything remotely.HilbillyRokstar
No I'll have to call them tomorrow and it will probably take them 3-4 days to send someone out.

[QUOTE="dejo256"][QUOTE="Dr_Snood"]Call them when it happens instead of when it isn't happening. Not sure what it could be, your connection should be all set in three days.. shouldn't take any longer than that.Dr_Snood
Problem is when it disconnects it reconnects within 30 seconds. It doesn't stay down, it will disconnect and then come back online. It is extremely frustrating.

Very frustrating, I was in your boat not too long ago with my internet provider due to them updating their lines (which took 3 months) and I was getting terrible connection at night. I googled it and it seems like a common problem with verizon for some people. Didn't find a fix (if I do I will post back), but yeah the best thing to do would to get someone to come out and check your lines. If worse comes to worse and verizon is unable to fix the problem you may have to return to your old internet provider. The higher price and less speed may suck, but atleast you have a consistent connection. However that should be your last option. I would just keep bugging verizon about it until they come and fix it for you. Sorry if I am not a lot of help, I am no networking pro :/.

I actually had Verizon for the past 5 years, I only upgraded the speed for the internet and bundled the phone line with it. I also had the phone service through them. Also its not like I upgraded to Fios (not available) its still their DSL internet, just faster speed.

"Set an appointment w/a service tech at or around the time of day it is happening." it happens every day, at least for the past 3 days it has. I'm going through it right now.

[QUOTE="istuffedsunny"]Why would you want to get rid of that awesome smell? It's the precursor to your own smoke machine! Okay replacing the PSU is the safe (but unfun) optionSliverwarrior
Is there a way to make sure its actually the PSU? I don't want to buy a new one only to realize I just replaced the wrong part.

sniff it, if its same odor then thats probably what is causing it.
