Well I bought my desktop a year and a half ago and I'm just wondering if I have to upgrade it to play the upcoming games. I really am not expecting to play them on high but low to medium is fine with me.

Computer is a windows 7, it has a amd phenom 9600 quad core proccessor which is running at 2.30 ghz, Computer also has 4 gigs of ram (I'm not sure what type or kind) and a ATI HD3200 onboard graphics card.

Now I know I def have to get a new graphics card, but I was wondering if the rest of the computer is way outdated. I plan on playing BF3.

Your CPU will probably be a hindrance as well. Do you have a budget we can work with

You could benefit from a CPU upgrade although you have to get a decent video card first.

What PSU do you have?

Yeah I was worried I'd have to upgrade the CPU as well. Well thanks anyway, I guess I'll be playing it on xbl.

I really dont want to spend too much I was thinking of getting a graphics card for $150 max. I'll probably end up getting a new computer within a year. I really dont play games on my computer but I'm interested in buying BF3 for it.

All you need is an HD 6850 for $155 and you'll be playing BF3 on your PC no problem. If you get a new computer in a year you can always transfer the HD 6850 to that one so you won't be wasting money.

You will need a sufficiently powerful power supply in order to install an HD 6850 though. Do you know what power supply you have?

Just wait until you have enough cash to make a whole new build. $150 isn't enough.

What is your resolution? If it is low you might be better off than you think. My brother still has a core2duo e8400, 2gb ram, 8800gtx and he can play the latest games on the lowest settings at 1440x900. Granted that isn't really the most fun. lol-BC2 looks like half life 2, maybe worse.
