Not sure why this discussion was so heated when the point seemed to be about exploring what new game mechanics we could have and not use inaccurate marketing speak.
It looked neat and I thought the trailer looked cool and funny. If they don't allow you to design your own vehicles or police headquarters or something though, it'll just be the next lego game that I avoid.
I can see why someone might claim we have too much focus on shooters and rpgs right now. It's not true though. We have tons of games available in every genre with 3D platformer being maybe the least represented, but it's still got games like Journey and that post apocalypse game and all the Nintendo stuff.
I think that he's right that it's probably a better game when played online. It would have been easy enough and many other games have had the option to have offline or online characters though. That would solve the problem completely. They are being dishonest about why they made these decisions.
With how little ME1 affected ME2, why would people expect Bioware to do a good job with this? They should just patch in the little title card "this was your life" type ending sequence like Fallout 3 had and leave it at that.
