I'm getting tired of gamers nonstop bitching and moaning in about every little thing. Gaming is more varied and robust then it's ever been, yet we see daily threads crying over everything and anything. Don't like dlc, don't buy it. Don't like online only games, don't buy them. There's more then enough other games you could be playing and ENJOYING that all the complaining is just getting old.

Ironically, you don't have to voice your disdain for bitching in a thread about bitching either. Yet here you are. We're glad you enjoy gaming, really. You're not adding anything to this thread though.

I think many people, myself included, want to see major publishers take more risks, but ofc the nature of being a large public company means we'll probably never see a return to those days, unless publishers choose to go privately held ownership. That could happen if more indies get big enough to pose a real threat to the big 3 or 4 publishers.

You don't like them because they're inherently boring in places. Some have too much combat. Some have too much dialog/cutscenes. Most have a strict linear story, which to me is bad for an "RPG".

What makes RPGs worth playing to me are the NPCs recognizing my impact on the world ("you didn't have to kill them all Shepard") and/or an addicting progression system. I've finished bad RPGs like Blue Dragon because I enjoyed the progression enough.

That said, the games you listed are some of the best modern ones although their merits as an "RPG" are a bit in name only. Most of the ones you listed are more action games. I can't believe you didn't like Mass Effect. To each his own.

@BassMan: Ugh I just got a new motherboard because I needed a new socket for my 8770k I just got. Well, ofc you also need new RAM. Older RAM is not compatible. And unbeknownst to me, RAM is also double the normal price. So I did, like a chump, because I thought the prices were only affecting GPUs.

You hit the nail on the head (although I don't think you were trying to).

Game developers will never be all things to all people. That's impossible.

@pcvirginrace: Lol JRPG with no kiddie characters. You've basically eliminated all of them depending on what your definition of a kiddie character is.

Maybe Final Fantasy 7? Although I think Cloud is technically a teenager...

Persona 2 on PS1 has adults as protagonists iirc...

If we can include tactical turn based RPGs, than you have some more options. Final Fantasy Tactics, Vandal Hearts, ect.

PS1 era was a darker time for JRPGs. Just don't play Grandia lol, you'll hate it.

Yes because it's just fun to roam around and explore and get more powerful. It certainly has flaws in the UI and story. Of course there are bugs galore being a Bethesda game. Also, the mod support for the game is outstanding.

The BK near me is horrible so I avoid it like the plague. It's been several years. Honestly, if I never went to BK again, it would be too soon. They're just trying to copy McDonalds with their new venture capital firm running the show the last couple years.

You can't play a game decades later and say "er derp I guess it didn't live up to the hype". Gaming standards change any many games didn't age well, so of course if you go back to an old game, you may find it lacking by modern standards.

Gaming is changing so fast. Just wait until you play you play today's hottest lootbox games in 2-3 years OP.

You do realize, OP, that gaming has changed and you don't have to wait 2-3 years for games to drop in price right? Many of them drop as soon as a couple of weeks after release, believe it or not.
