of course, you omit the one glaring difference. the n64 was limited in its stubborn decision to cling to old technology (cartridge) while the ps3 is ushering in the probably winner of the nextgen disc format (bluray)

Devil-Itachi

Nintendo being stubborn about it is a misconception. They did none the less use carts, which makes your point vaild.

whoops my bad. i was under the impression they chose to cling to the cartridge format. is that incorrect?

[QUOTE="duncanvk"][QUOTE="KeyWii"]I forgot... Rain effects. F1: Championship Edition anyone?KeyWii

Gears of War. Hands down.

From GameSpots F1 review.

The Good:Great sense of speed; very friendly to beginners, though the difficulty quickly ramps up; sweet rain effects; online play is smooth and supports 11 people in a single race. The Bad:Presentation is drab; difficulty progression could be smoother; rosters are extremely out of date.

Funny thing about Gears of War, there were maybe 10 enemies tops on the level with the rain... fancy that one.

I own both. I guarantee you that the Mansion level on GeOW looks better. F1 has some great rain effects.

I was just about to say that.

And hell, Lost Planet has the best looking snow effects I've seen this generation.

Thats because your confined to your lousy X360. I've already owned countless Lemms who bring up the Lost Planet argument. R:FOM owns it.

ehh...i didn't particularly like lost planet either. most likely it's my negative view of the gameplay (personal opinion) that's clouding my opinion!

You still have to buy a separate $200 HD-DVD to watch 1080p movies. And with 360's 5.1 sound capability I think composite cables would suffice. HDMI is really geared towards HD movie playback and HD sound...which elite has neither....what a joke. MS laughs at fools who will buy this.

In the end the $480 tag for elite..and someone owning a premium at $400...there is NO difference at all.

Vicious_T

i wouldn't say no difference

the difference is i don't like knowing that there's a higher model above the one i own!

otherwise i agree, i'm not a big fan of the elite

[QUOTE="alcarazo9"]i think the format is also similar since both tried to push their format on developersTyrantDragon55

except one format was old and was a detriment to gaming whereas the other one is new and has untapped potential

Yes, but exploiting said potential would probably require quite a bit time of money. More than most developers are probably willing to shell out.

true. but i think there are some big name companies out there (kojima productions comes to mind) that would be willing to take on this additional cost and "tackle the challenge" of filling a bluray disc

of course, the true test is whether they can fill it with material that enhances gameplay and not hours on end of CGI cutscenes

depends from game to game. oblivion looked/functioned better despite the "easier development" on the 360

i think as developers grow more comfortable with the development tools on the ps3, that gap will narrow or cease to exist (or maybe, even swing over to the ps3 side!)

Saturos3091

Yeah, but Oblivion had an extra year in development. The PS3's Cell Processor is why it's so hard to program with in the first place. It's less efficient than the 360's CPU, however it does have quite a bit of power. Maybe in time as devs learn to work with their resources and the PS3 more, the gap will cease to exist.

so now you're just stealing lines from my post?! jk jk

[QUOTE="briguyb13"]Then what is?It could'nt be for hd movie watching because almost nobody has an hdtv.briguyb13

i get so confused. i went to best buy and all these shoppers were looking at HDTVs.....

yet still more than half of americans don't have an HDTV.... and thats an understatement

i know not everyone has an hdtv. to say that nobody has one (see initial post in my string of quotes) is just foolish though

Notice in my quote I said "almost nobody",17% is almost nobody.Who you calling "foolish"fool?

ha ha ok

way to backtrack

if 17% of americans contracted ebola hemorrhagic fever tomorrow, i'm pretty sure the cdc isn't releasing a press report stating "almost nobody" has ebola

Simple Question: Why, in general, are Multiplats better on the 360? This is not only my humble opinion but also the opinion of Gamespot, IGN, Games Radar, GamesRankings......and so on and so on..... But feel free to disagree. So......what do you think?AA7
