[QUOTE="sexy_luigi"]well kinda, but atleast the n64 had great games, the ps3 well... doesnt :?-Daddy-

i'm a lemming but my best friend has a PS3 and i like some of the games

Motor Storm and Resistance are both great and imsure there are others that i havent played that are good as well

I had a N64 back in the day and I remember what all went on. Mario 64, a launch game, blasted everything else to bits. The game was amazing, revolutionary, and fun as hell. To this day, people look back and remember it as one of the best games ever. The PS3 has no such game so far.

dude it was the first 3d mario game, of course it would be legendary.

that was a pretty cool game

i think we'll have to wait until ff13/mgs4 for a similar breathtaking experience

Sometimes its bad to be too advanced

You're right it has new pitfalls to fall victim to axt113

true. too advanced isn't great either. but it's not like we're teleporting images into people's brains now. i think it'll be fine

as for the new pitfalls, also true. but then that would defeat the TC's point

Best snow effects in any game so far: Resistance: Fall of Man

Best Water / Ocean effects in any game so far: Lair

Best Glass physics in any game: Resistance: Fall of Man

Best Rain effects: F1 Championship Edition

Let's see what else the PS3 can conquer.

KeyWii

lol...thank god that you're not biased, right KeyWii? I mean seariously, I can do the same thing, watch:

best use of pipes: SMB

best use of inverted scrolling action: wheel of fortune (the game)

Seriously, for you being a "surgeon, you sure are....well...you know.

I'm talking about actual common visual effects we see in many different games. What you're talking about is just, um, well, you know....

You're a surgeon? what kind?

[QUOTE="briguyb13"]Then what is?It could'nt be for hd movie watching because almost nobody has an hdtv.renger6002

i get so confused. i went to best buy and all these shoppers were looking at HDTVs.....

yet still more than half of americans don't have an HDTV.... and thats an understatement

i know not everyone has an hdtv. to say that nobody has one (see initial post in my string of quotes) is just foolish though

of course, you omit the one glaring difference. the n64 was limited in its stubborn decision to cling to old technology (cartridge) while the ps3 is ushering in the probably winner of the nextgen disc format (bluray)

Microsoft1234

Yes, but developing blu-ray games is more expensive than dvd9 games. Hence why the arguement is valid. Also, keep in mind that the N64 went down with a fight. 35m isn't bad for a system that didn't live as long as it's competitor.

it's more expensive if you intend on utilizing the entire disc (in which case, the quality is no longer comparable with DVD9 games)

i think if we're talking the same size games, production costs will probably be similar

yes similar however greater on ps3 and developers have an easier time to develop for other consoles than the ps3......same with n64 costs more, harder to develop, not saying they're the same but htey have the same mistakes

harder to develop is prolly true. but i still say running games off a "futuristic" format like bluray gives the ps3 a shot at avoiding the same pitfalls that the n64 fell victim to

And if you lemmings think Halo 3 will be mind blowing, visually and hugely improved compared to what we have seen, then your just fooling your self. It won't look like the impressive E3 2006 trailer...just Halo 2 didn't like its impressive E3 2003 trailer.

-Maddog-

that halo2 trailer wasnt in-engine:| ..and if you honestly think halo3 will look like that after bungie has stated that the beta is a graphical improvement from the alpha videos..your just another ignorant fanboy

Errr, the E3 2003 trailer of halo 2 was realtime and actual gameplay and STILL didn't live up to it...the end result was worse with major graphical texture delays etc etc .The game will look nice..but not that E3 2006 trailer nice. HeII even till now they haven't even got anything looking like that trailer...but instead there apprently using year old engines...LOL. yeah right. its 6 months away tick tock, lemmings.

again..that trailer was not in real-time.. and you seem to think bungie are releasing what they have for halo3 so far..when infact what the have shown is works they did months ago.. dont act like you know what you are talking about because you clearly dont.

Are you that much of a brainwashed lemming??? Download the trailer and see for your self..it wasn't just realtime but actual gameplay. Go on. If they couldn't live up to it then...what makes you think they will now???

oh im sorry..i keep thinking about the E3 2002 trailer..my mistake. dont really see how you keep trying to connect the E3 2003 trailer of halo3 to the E3 2006 trailer.. the E32002 trailer looked much darker then the final build of halo2 while halo2 looked much more brighter and detailed..your confusing the term "design change" to an actual downgrade.

:lol:Is that the excuse lems are using now??? The fact is, the E3 2003 gameplay/realtime trailer looks alot better than the final build..its not a design change. MC had actual reflection in his visor a less blurry and more detailed suit...the final result was bad texture delays and chief looking not nearly as detailed. I posted a thread with pics about it..too. and know one proved me wrong.

I seriouslly don't expect things to be different this time around.

things like that always happen though. no one releases a game that fully lives up to all the trailers/hype.etc

they don't see it your way. or they wouldn't release a new system to cater to the 1% "hardcore" market

dimar19

What "hardcore"? For people who use HD movies rental, they can prefer more space and HDMI. For games it's totally useless

i dunno about that. bigger hd space could be utilized to minimize loading times (actually, i don't know if this is true. i've heard that's how the ps3 version of oblivion runs a bit quicker)

and i'm not well versed enough in technology to state what hdmi can offer but i'm pretty sure it offers some benefit over the plain old cables (in terms of a gaming perspective)
