@02050muh You know they'll butcher it. They will probably make Drake a skinhead with a different ethinicity and turn Fisher into some congressman's hapless daughter instead of a journalist. Anything to please the masses.
@blackflaimelion Would be nice if they could get it right the first time. They eventually fixed whatever performance issues that was plaguing the PC version, at least for me.
Why are there people excited about this? This resurrection of Black Isle is nothing more than in name only. The same people who made Black Isle legendary are not involved with this resurrection. Unless they find some talented people to work at this new Black Isle, it's going to be crap.
I like Brevik's remarks. According to this article, all that the D3 devs had to say in response were insults. Throwing insults in response to an argument generally means they can't defend their side of view very well. Makes me lose respect even more for Blizzard. It's fine to disagree with Brevik, but throwing insults isn't.
In any case, I bought D3 thinking it'd be a good experience (got it ten bucks off from Newegg too). I was bored and disappointed in the end. This goes to show that, while Blizzard remains Blizzard, just like any other developer out there, the personnel change year to year. What was the makeup of blizzard back in the days of D2's development is no long what it is today. It's like sports teams. With the right group, that team can do awesome things. Then the group changes and the team sucks balls for a while. I think it's the same with the game industry.
That said, D3 will probably be the last Blizzard game I'll buy out the gate and wait until enough customers are genuinely satisfied with the game before making a purchase.
If OnLive did perform a round of mass layoffs, that means the management overextended its resources (poor management) or they are not profiting as a business. No company lays off a lot of employees for the hell of it. There is always a reason and usually due to bad circumstances.
In any event, OnLive is too early to the scene. Such a service requires very good connectivity by their customers. I've tried OnLive and I was not impressed with what I've seen.
I feel they need to make the game more challenging. At least, when I played Tropico 3 and 4, it seems real easy to go from start to finish. It made me bored fairly quick. I need more game play than the challenge of making a city aesthetically pleasing. I really like the atmosphere of a comical dictatorship cuba theme, but if they can throw more complexity into it, I'll be good.
