Yeah I was wondering about all that. I just wrote an article a couple days ago that I was hoping could be considered for featuring but now I'm really not sure how the whole system is supposed to work. 

Grand Theft Auto V and The Witness.

Both had very strong narratives, but I'm generally more fond of stories that manage to be affecting in an understated way, which The Last of Us mostly succeeded at. Infinite, on the other hand, is - in usual Ken Levine fashion - very on the nose. Still, I liked them both a lot.

The Last of Us is easily the best game Naughty Dog made this gen. As initially awe-inspiring as Uncharted 2 was, it's hard to look back oni it all that fondly. It was hyper-linear, had too many inconsequential cutscenes, relied way too much on setpieces (though most of them were pretty damn good), had half-hearted puzzles, and a generally dissonant, inconsistent story.

The Last of Us, on the other hand, basically does exactly what it wants to do - and very effectively and confidently at that.

I don't think anyone's going to be alive for Last Guardian's Day 1.

Anti-consumer policies seem like pretty good grounds for a consumer to hate a product. The fact that its closest competitor both lacks those restrictions and retails for $100 cheaper are yet two more pretty fantastic reasons to be rather unenthusiastic about the Xbone.

I hope this isn't just messed up for the sake of being messed up. If this was from Kojima ten years ago, I'd be pretty confident that he'd be using such graphic imagery to actually communicate something, but after how self-indulgent and thematically empty MGS4 was, I have my doubts.
