What the hell? How is driving 5 minutes to pickup a new movie from blockbuster worse than sitting around for a week to get mailed your next movie? Thats the worst idea I ever heard of.

Back in their heyday, Netflix had warehouses near practically every major city, along with direct access to USPS distribution centers, allowing for 2-day or even next-day mailing of DVDs. Total turnaround time from mailing a DVD to getting the next one was about four business days (including Saturday). And they always had enough stock of new releases, which could not be said about Blockbuster.

Now they should ask RARE if the acquisition was a good thing😂

Rare is seeing tons of success with Sea of Thieves, which they might not have been able to do without Microsoft money. Dunno why you think Rare would not be pleased about getting acquired by Microsoft.

Another easy win for Xbox, thanks to VRR mitigating the fps drops.

Cows be like "buh buh buh the load times!!!" 😂

Summary

  • The game uses Unreal Engine 4
  • Core rendering settings are identical between PS5 and Series X.
  • Both consoles output 4K at 60fps, using Dynamic Resolution Scaling and UE reconstruction. Actual pixel counts are between 1440p and 4K on both consoles.
  • Series S outputs 1440p at 60fps, with largely the same rendering settings as PS5/Series X except for a lower anisotropic filtering setting. Actual pixel counts range from 960p to 1296p. Looks a little blurrier on 4k screens, but 1080p screens will show it fine.
  • Series S holds at 60fps on most non-combat scenes. Combat scenes produce more pronounced drops to as low as 50fps, as do cutscenes. VRR fixes this. Sometimes the dynamic resolution scaler lags a little behind, causing a brief fps drop until it catches up.
  • Series X achieves 60fps more consistently in non-combat. In combat, big flashy attacks may cause fps drops to about 56fps, again due to the dynamic resolution scaler lagging slightly. Cutscenes also cause drops as low as 53fps. Presumably VRR can also help with this.
  • PS5 hits 60fps more consistently still, doing a better job with problematic scenes than Series X. But still expect to see drops to around 56fps in big combat scenes. PS5 doesn't support VRR to help with this.
  • PS5 has slightly better load times than Series X; ~5-6s vs. ~6-7s.

I thought you cows believed in generations. Well guess what? Moving to a new generation means losing your saves. Unless, of course, you’re on Xbox. Smart Delivery FTW. XBOX players literally just wake up one morning and the upgrade is there. 😁

You called it a sales flop numerous times, despite Sony telling its investors it is a success.

Should we believe Sony or a sad troll getting owned yet again?

He really enjoys getting owned and being ignored. 🤣

Looks like the wonder twins are teaming up again.

I looked up Bluepoint games. Literally nothing but remasters and ports. Not a single original project to their name. It's OK Sony, you can have that. Microsoft has no need for a remaster house, when they can simply deploy 4K upgrades and FPS Boost to old games without even changing the game's code. 😄

While they may not have made an original game, it is silly to negate their experience making games.

They did manage to make Titanfall for Xbox 360, keeping all of the frenetic speed and gameplay. That was pretty impressive.

This makes perfect sense but lacks spectacle, feels more like a formality. I was honestly hoping Sony to acquire Remedy. Now that would make a big splash, seeing a developer with deep ties to MS to be given the opportunity to make a big Sony title. But it's a safe and wise bet from Sony and probably bought them for peanuts.

But I still want to see Sony making a big move, not just turning 2nd party studios into first. Kinda feels like them announcing that you can watch movies through PS Now as their big move against Game Pass.

Remedy would never sell to Sony. Or Microsoft for that matter. They're one of those fiercely independent studios who make what they want to make and don't give a hoot who publishes them. A bit like Respawn or Bungie.
