They did really good work on the up-port of "Tomb Raider" reboot, but their down-port of "Rise of the Tomb Raider" to XB360 was probably even more impressive from a technical point of view.

Side note: I wonder if Nintendo has sniffed around acquiring Panic Button.

Apparently Nixxen is a studio that focuses on Pc porting work. Blergh wasting money on backup studios for beggars.

It seems that Sony is taking the MS route and is following the money with PC gaming. The PlayStation Experience is really going to make the PS5 optional. 😎

On one hand, they're a porting house, so this suggests Sony might be looking for more expertise for multi-platform ports, specifically to PC.

On the other hand, we might be looking at another Aspyr situation; a porting house looking to take the next step and start making their own products, and have secured the resources to do just that.

Hard to tell which at this point.

Meanwhile, the Xbox Series GDK natively supports PC, so, no "porting" necessary.

One of the many benefits of the Series X/S' intelligent design.

While this acquisition could mean more ports to PC, given the history that Pedro posted, I'm more apt to believe we'll be seeing more remasters or upgrades from earlier gens.

No Cross-Buy, Cross Save, Cross Progression, no Trophies, no friend-lists or PSN API baked-in, etc....

They're enjoying literally none of the "shared ecosystem" benefits of porting games to PC. Which makes me question what Sony even has to gain with their current PC-PS5 strategy outside of a small short-term revenue bursts years after the fact.

And even that is weakened by the fact that til' recently, they weren't even publishing the ports of their own games themselves on PC, even further reducing their revenue cut. So who the hell even knows lol.

Well, it's no secret that Sony is gradually porting their old first-party games to the PC to milk money from PC gamers. It's no surprise that they buy a company that is good at the job such as Nixxes.

good dev for making ports. I assume this is to port their games to PC. Actually a good move by sony. If it's true I could probably skip the PS5 and just play horizon 2 on PC. nothing else is worth playing that isn't on other platforms

Interesting. Just read on PushSquare that it seems according to Hermen Hulst that they will be used across all the various internal studios to assist the devs with polish; presumably to release games faster.

Hulst - "Nixxes will be a strong asset for everyone across PlayStation Studios, helping our teams focus on their most important goal, which is to create unique PlayStation content at the best possible quality.”

Good to see cows so happy more PS titles coming to PC. Great acquisition for Playstation studios.

Just read this quote from known Sony shill site PushSquare, "Nixxes is widely considered to be PC port specialists, and will likely contribute towards PlayStation’s larger strategy of bringing more first-party titles to Steam and the Epic Games Store." Great take from the Sony insiders.

I think the word you're looking for is Oligopoly.

This is an acquisition I can stomach, they're specialized in porting games from one platform to another and this could result in games being available to more people provided that this is still what the studio will do after Sony buys them.

No need to double dip though, Just have wait for the definitive PC version to release. No buying a PS5 or the console version necessary, Great win for PC gamers.

PC gamers historically double dip. It's ok, we paid thousands of dollar for our PCs, we can double dip.

Can't see how this is bad for cows, since this means more sales to Sony, hence, more market share, leading to higher budget and better games. It's an easy win for Sony and PC.
