Doom Eternal Next Gen Upgrade "Screws ps5 players..."

Apparently you are not capable of bringing your save file from ps4 to ps5 in the upgrade... Ps5 owners will have to start fresh.

Do you think all upgraded games should allow access to your previous gen save files the way some modern games are doing? Does this stink for the Sony defense force or will they shake another hit off and keep charging forward!?

Also, I've never played doom... Everyone here always posts about how mediocre it is so I never bothered... :P

Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal in particular is the finest shooter ever created from a mechanical standpoint. Even the platforming is sweet in Eternal.

So all along ghost has been another lemming alt in disguise. How embarrassing.

Probably has to do with the two different file systems that they use for saves between the PS4 and PS5 or something like that. Not sure what they have to do to convert it over but they should be able to do though. Might be a bit of a complex issue though.

nah it's lack of features PS offers that I often see people blame on the devs when PS is the only system lacking the features. Cross saves, controller remapping, etc just basic things that should be done at a system level

Every other company knows how to do this for PS5 what's the deal Beth? We know what you did here.

I don’t understand the hype for these games. The music is great, and it runs well on even a potato PC. But the shoot guys til they glow a color, then melee them gets old fast. And the find the key card to open the door level design was played out decades ago.

Is this Bethesda's fault, or Sony's?

I'd like to think if it was easy enough to do they'd have done it, but apparently it would require enough effort to not make it a viable thing.

yeah it's missing a lot but the 2 big ones IMO are cross saves and button mapping. I see it a lot on specific game forums when people complain about not having a button map in the game and i'm like it's not needed because every platform lets you remap at the system level including sensitivity except for PS. people should be on sony to add these features instead of blasting the devs for having to do extra work due to sony missing stuff they should have. but fanboys will be fanboys

Played both DOOM Eternal and Returnal, and they're both great games, but Returnal is the better game.

@darkangel115: Yeah those certainly seem like two big missing features for sure. The PS5 is pretty much fully backwards compatible with the PS4. Right? So why would it not support cross save with that system and it’s games? Seems really odd to me.

This place was like gaf in its prime and the current resetera, a big deal some may say, but no devs have ever ventured on System Wars.

I thought you cows believed in generations. Well guess what? Moving to a new generation means losing your saves. Unless, of course, you’re on Xbox. Smart Delivery FTW. XBOX players literally just wake up one morning and the upgrade is there. 😁

Other devs get around this by having saves uploaded to publisher server and re-accessed on the next console. So, since wasn't in game's original design, MS would have to foot the bill for the additional servers. Sony gamers will just have to miss out. Not to mention, MS would have to foot the bill for patch certification costs to update that feature. Just giving PS5 gamers the game should be good enough. They should feel lucky they're even getting that, but they don't feel that because they're entitled.

PS aren't that forward thinking. They just continue the last good formula. On Xbox I can bounce my save game between devices.

You're not wrong. I'm happily playing Ninja Gaiden 2 and Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 side by side. I don't mind at all replaying the game and making fresh saves.

Same with the Arkham games on different devices, Ace Combat... I don't mind.

We had a podcast, website, game nights.... At its height, we'd gather and watch E3 together online.

Yea, i knew about the podcast and of course Jack, who i've seen commenting in here a few times after he became what he is now. But this is the first time i hear of a site that has a sheep, cow and a lem section🤣interviewing SW people and even have a Ghost interview in threre lol.

it's public backlash that gets a lot done. the hardcore sony fans will accept whatever they are given and never ask for more so they have no reason too. they have the largest fanbase, the best console sales, and their customers will accept anything and thank them for it all while praising them at every turn and shitting on their competition. Why would they spend time and resources to add things that doesn't benefit them? That is why competition is good. Cows are too dumb to realize they are shortchanging themselves with their behavior.
