It's a little discouraging knowing that we still have to make the choice between favoring graphics or favoring performance on next gen consoles. Was hoping that would be a thing of the past.
This game is not a 4. While I have not beat the game, the few hours I spent with it were fun and bug-less. That's not to say the bugs aren't real, but with some good post launch support, just about all of the negatives can be patched out, aside from the story. To be fair though I never follow the story in isometric arpg's.
Current state I could understand maybe a 6/10, once the game is patched up though, could be an 8 or a 9.
It's weird they took bugs into score consideration, especially when most AAA titles are also released with bugs.
@austinp: They are actually doing the US a favor by releasing them here at all. The Yakuza series is very Japanese, and is developed for their region. It takes time for them to completely localize the game for the US so that we also have a great experience when we play it.
Please understand that they could just as easily not release these games in the US as Im sure the market for this game is not as big in the US as it is in Japan.
It may be just me, but I thought snipers were too overpowered in this game. Whether thats due to too many of them on the battlefield at once, some very generous buffs to the weapon class, or just me being a whiny bitch, Im not sure. Maybe a little of everything. Has it always been like this? I know the term quick-scoping has been around for a while, but this CoD seems to promote it somehow.
@l_willard: Feeling you on this one. The stuff that happens in between the Rites seems pretty linear and stale. The biggest choice I have had (which normally all take the form of which path to take, and seem pretty inconsequential) was which item on a 3 path choice I wanted most. There is some choice in skill progression I suppose, but even that feels limited. Combat is super fun though, so Ill trudge through it for that.
