Gamespot, I have said this before and I will say it again…please show PC users some more love! For crying out loud, Aion is still not reviewed, yet MW2 gets and xbox review the second day in. Also, Need for speed shift on PC has not been reviewed along with the PC version of MW2. I have followed you guys since 2004, what happened to your dedication?! If you wish to stop support for PC games please just make a statement and at least provide the PC community with a site that can do a better job.

The following games are just a few that have been out for a while and still not rated (at least not for PC's [shame on you gamespot!])

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising
Aion: Tower of Eternity
Need for Speed: Shift

I speak for the entire PC audience when I say, "please show a little more love to us!" By rating OF:DR and NFS:S on Xbox and PS3 shortly after release, and still not rating it for pc nearly a month later is somewhat a slap in our faces. Aion is another story because I know that it is an MMO and you take your time on it, but the other two really should have had a rating by now (video reviews are usually a lot more fun btw but at this point I would be happy to see at least a binary coded review for NF:S on PC)

Gamespot, I have been so loyal to you guys for many many years; I was following you when you were still videogames.com! You have always been my go to source for PC games and reviews. But lately, I have found myself resorting to IGN.com and PC dedicated websites in order to find some updates on my gaming medium of choice, because, in all honesty, you just don't seem as dedicated to PC gamers like you did in the years of 2003-05. All I am asking is for you guys to bring us up to par with the consoles; we may not be equal in number of gamers per platform, but I'll be damned if we're not the most dedicated!

The i7 920 is a socket 1366. As of right now Intel will release the Gulftown (referred to as Core i9) cpu's for socket 1366 mobo's only. The i9's are the six core 12 thread processors. If you ever plan on crossfire then you will get the best performance with the i7 920 and an X58 socket 1366 mobo. I do not believe that Intel is going to release any 6 core processors for the P55 mobo's. The P55's are for the i3 (not released yet), i5's, and i7 8xx cpu's. Also, you will want the extra bandwidth you get with triple-channel DDR3 RAM since you do a lot of graphics art and Photoshop.jtcraft

hmm is the extra bandwith noticable? Are p55 gonna be completely absolute afterwards?

[QUOTE="SolracSelbor"]

why did you go with the i7 920 over the 860?

smc91352

'cause i7 920 is alot better and more future-proof.

i need some reasoning.....how is it future proof?

The build in the picture there I submitted just now, go for that but remove the dvd-drive from it, and the case as you already have them. But buy the PSU that's on that build.

That means you can knock off between $140-170 off the price, and its now within your budget.

jamesfffan

That is a very good build! But you have gotten me quite interested in the i7 860. My only issue with this CPU is future upgrades to hexacores

lol, CA is referring to California sales tax

Anyways, thanks for the builds BUT, i do not need a case or optical drives or even a PSU if the 600w PSU i mentioned on the original post is fine.

Also, FYI, The radeon 5870 2GB is a REQUIREMENT, thats $449.99 saved strictly for that.

my budget is $1200 including 9.75% sales tax. So roughly $1120.

Also, according to the article it looks as if the hexcores will be better compatible with the 1366 chipsets

I've edited my post, do not worry. It Does support DDR3 Ram, but only Dual-channel.

I was merely stating there are 2 types of DDR3 memory, Dual-channel and Triple-channel.

jamesfffan

Sorry dude, i suppose i dont understand the differences in memory, then. Care to elaborate? Also, what does it mean when they say the p55 boards only run your GPU at x8 over x16 with x58 boards?
