I only have one thing to say, mods, thousands of free mods

Doesn't this actually mean that the game is incomplete so it needs a hard working community to make thousands of mods to make the game better?

Kind of yes.

But think about it. When you give your community all the tools necessary to produce more content for the game, instead of a few hundred minds you have like millions of "developers". Somebody's bound to come up with awesome ways to make the game better.

It shows the potential of the game, not the completeness of it. Could they have made Skyrim out of the box with all the features the mods add? Yes. That being said they don't have tens of thousands of developers and all that time to keep paying them. Additionally many of the mods don't fit well in the actual game. Are exploding chickens and ligthsabers cool? Of course! Do they actually fit within the game? No of course not, so why make it part of the game?

As for it's potential, there are several instances of mods coming out that have essentially the same functionality that they were working on in an expansion such as housing, etc.

As others have said, PS+ is able to give more because it's technically only there if you continue to pay. That being said, it also obviously comes down to how much of a deal the console maker is wiling to make with the publisher.

Honestly, the only game like that I've ever beat was Fallout 3. Fore the story just doesn't hold up well enough in most open world games. That being said, I appreciate what they did with the game.

Exactly what others have said. Besides Halo looming off in the distace, I'm sure E3 will swoop in and get all the potential customers excited about "What's next."

@Jacanuk: Well it's kind of a toss up I suppose. Yes you should expect spoilers in this thread, but no specific game is mentioned until you actually read the individual post so you might want to read all but one post. Still, it's not like anyone here is jumping to "____ died and I cried!" so there's plenty warning to stop reading until you get to that point.

One thing to note is that the role consoles serve has changed drastically and so the games have changed accordingly. For instance, the role of the console before the Xbox was to simply play video games. They had custom hardware and custom software, a custom OS that's sole purpose was to play video games. There was no menu system, music options, picture options, nothing. It was meant for a disc to be put it and the hardware/console to play the game. Every single facet of it's design was centered on gaming.

This has now changed obviously. The hardware is now simply PC hardware and the OS has become inflated with streaming, Netflix, TV, Music, etc. Consoles are no longer meant just to play games and as such gaming on console continually uses these features.

In my honest opinion, if someone made a console that ONLY played games. I'm talking not even a menu system at all, no other options, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Can you imagine what the specs of a PS4/XOne would do for an OS that doesn't have to do 18 other things at the same time? I'd be in gaming heaven. IMO consoles have lost focus. They used to have a purpose because they were simply gaming machines, not entertainment machines. Now there is less and less making them different than a PC so they have to artificially add reasons they are separate like the Kinect or touchpads/gaming pads.

Black 2, Burnout 3 HD, Legend of Dragoon 2. There's a few off the top of my head.

Every game that has a class system I spend about an hour or so contemplating which one to choose.

a story that just seemed like your typical run-of-the-mill JRPG up until it got very dark in the last few hours of the game.

Reminds me of KH. I enjoyed the combat but the story wasn't very dark at all until the last hour or so. (It still wasn't dark, but got much more serious all-of-a-sudden.)

Legend of Dragoon, Dark Cloud 2 always come to mind when a question like this is asked so I suppose those two I enjoyed immensely.
