@WizardGlass: That's not what I said at all. I never once said they don't want the game. I said they are not doing it to "SUPPORT THE DEVELOPERS" which was your own original point. Look at pirates - they want the game but they clearly aren't supporting the developers in any why. Regardless - you don't need to "pre-order" the game in order to support the developers. Just paying for a new copy of the game will gain the same results. By pre-ordering you are supporting the store you got it from and bad habits as explained in the article above. Look at the newest MK game - there were 24 versions of that game in total. By buying into such strategies more and more developers will realise they can get away with this and in the end it's the gamers who get screwed over - but it's their own fault. That's what this article is pointing out and if you can't accept that you're probably in denial.

@WizardGlass: "that is why most people preorder games... because they want to support a developer and they know from past experience that they will like the game." That's why SOME people pre-order but I wouldn't claim it to be the major reason for it. I've read a lot of comments explaining that people are pre-ordering from a specific store purely for the extra stuff. Some even order from multiple stores because they want all the stuff. I've heard a bunch of other reasons as to why to pre-order but not once has that reason been because they wish to "support the developer". This article is NOT false garbage - it highlights an issue that's just as, if not more important than hypocritical Ubisoft employees.

Game trailers should represent what the game will be like in tone, emotion and other things. Think of them as an overture for a concert - it sets the mood for the rest of the experience. If the game itself doesn't match up with that then it's going to distract from the game itself, no matter how great the game is. Showing only in-game footage (or cutscene footage) similar to a movie trailer can help with this - but it's not the only way and it runs the risk of possible spoilers or again distracting players when they spot a part from the trailer (or are actively looking for them).

"It has the right to shut them out of its community, to refuse them any kind of service in the future." I sincerely wish that they would do something like that. Really I do. Unfortunately companies like this care more about money than anything else. While they may donate 1,000 USD to bullying charities, they'll be earning 10 times more than that from those bullies.

Wii: Why not just call it the Wii 2. Makes sense - maybe too much sense. No DVD or Blu-Ray support, so how do you play games? Are they all going to be digital downloads? Or are they going to be DVD, but DVD movies are going to be blocked? What's the point? And NO, Blu-Ray/DVD players do not make the feature useless. Having the feature means people don't have to buy such devices and they can use the money saved to buy more games. D'uh! Having to buy separate players means the TV cabinet is going to be full of redundant tech. In this day and age when games, DVD's, Blu-Ray, and even TV can all be played from a single device, why would they go for an out-dated model of only allowing games. Tablets, as said before, are just gimmicky and a waste of space/money. The rest of the tech mentioned here is just catch-up with the current-gen, and probably won't even match it, let alone exceed it.

PS: Sony are a hardware company. Why would they go from making PS hardware, to only making software? Especially considering the PS3 has the best tech in the industry. Man, some "analysts" are just full of crap. I don't think I've ever seen one predict something true. In fact, the PS3's tech is good enough to last a while longer - I mean there aren't that many advances in technology since it was released. Maybe a faster processor, bigger HDD space and bringing backward compatibility back - but none of those things are enough to warrant a whole new generation of consoles. And with "Unlimited Detail" by Euclideon, coming out soon, there's no need to even attempt to improve graphics. A 1 million poly character will be nothing in comparison. Again, there's no need for a new generation (some consoles do need to catch up in certain areas though), and I'm happy to hear Sony say that the PS3 still has a long life left - instead of jumping on the bandwagon when it's not necessary.

XBOX: If they only started working on it last year then there's almost zero chance of it being released this year. "in March 2011, Microsoft opened several positions", "from conception through implementation." Blu-Ray means the Xbox will finally catch up with current gen technology. No more M$ points, about time. Those things were useless, redundant, poorly implemented and practically a waste of time. Tablet controllers - this means stupid gimmicky games that force players to use this thing. If I wanted to game on a small handheld screen, I would get a handheld console such as the Vita. I play console games so that I can play on the big screen. Even if you can plug the tablet into your TV, you'll still have to be holding and using a big chunky tablet instead of a controller. Also, wireless tablet, that thing is going to eat batteries. Unless M$ are going to implement a built in battery like the PS3 controllers. Either way, having a screen on it will eat the batteries quicker than a normal controller and people will probably end up just leaving it plugged in.

@BigMikeM77: You're missing the point here. If lots of people are selling the same item over and over, the value of that item will go down - meaning anyone wanting to sell said item might as well not bother. Even if you are in single player and sell that item to an NPC store, you will still be subject to the devaluation on that item. The way they plan on balancing this - I think - is to adjust drop rates. So if an item is being found and sold a lot, the drop rate will decrease so less people find it. Now, again, imagine playing single player and looking for a specific set item, but the drop rate has been reduced to the point that it's almost impossible to find. For those who want to avoid buying stuff in the Auction House, they may not have a choice if they want a specific item, as it may be the only way to obtain it. In short, this isn't only effecting those who use the AH, it's going to effect every single Diablo III player.

Diablo 3 and Skyrim are the only PC games on my list at the moment. But I need a new PC first.
