If you look at the WiiU's current hardware, it's just BARELY on par with last generation's consoles: PS3, and 360. This is the biggest problem. Nintendo didn't really bother to improve the architecture and the only thing new they added to the console was a tablet controller and another letter to the name.
I can't even begin to tell you how many people thought the WiiU was just a controller add-on for the original Wii because of this.
@Hurvl Apart from Battlefront having a Third-Person option and many more game modes and such to choose from.
I'm afraid Dice is just going to reskin Battlefield 3/4 into Battlefront. A near Call of Duty Clone with larger maps, excessive bloom, lens flare, and color grading.
Not to mention high priced DLC. Something like $10-15 for a couple new maps and weapons, yet not new real content.
These things may not happen, but with EA being the publisher I am almost certain it will.
This worries me. Only a year after Battlefield 4 leads me to believe it really will just be Battlefield in space. It's looking like they're just going to ride the hype of the new movies as a way of increasing sales, and that's never a good thing.
... Why are they acting like this is some new amazing feature? This was available on the Xbox 360 to begin with. You didn't like a player? You muted them. Hated them? You opened up their gamer card and pressed the button to avoid them. You even had a nifty little score to consider:
2. Removal of Concepts and core elements from previous entry(s) - More action segments likely added.
3. See Step 2. Addition of aggressive viral marketing to "Broaden Audience."
4. Complete casualization of all gameplay. Former concepts and elements almost totally non-existant. Game is now likely a Call of Duty clone arcade shooter.
5. All hope is lost. The Koreans have gotten their hands on the game and are working to turn it into another MMO of some sort, be it FPS, RTS, or RPG.
Now, just remove the kinect and you have a slightly less powerful and $100 more expensive PS4. Are you even trying, microsoft? As it stands, even with all these reversals the rational consumer has no reason to return to Xbox this generation outside of desired exclusives.
Even then, can you justify the price gap and lower performance? And no, children, just because something is more expensive doesn't make it better. That $7,000 Alienware of yours will be outclassed every single time by a $2,000 hand built PC, for example.
My opinion for the last few months stands. PC, PS4, and 3DS it is this generation.
