Goty is obviously PUBG, you get to bond with your fellow travelers on that plane only to carve their intestines out few minutes later, sometimes you even meet your buddies on the plane and you get to gut em too, marvelous.
the only games in the pipeline that have a chance to top it for me (i think online awards wise BOTW has it pretty much sewn up) are xenoblade 2 and mario odyssey.
nothing else i have played or seen this year comes even remotely close to BOTW. its only real flaw is performance issues (still present on the wiiu version) and they dont make the game completely unplayable just less than awesome at times
Did everyone just forget about Red Dead Redemption 2? Year isn't even half over yet. But I guess there is that possibility of it being delayed like all Rockstar games.
I think it will win a lot of GotYs, including GSs GotY and it probably is objectively the best game this year, probably one of the best games ever. Personally however I'm really into JRPGs, unless there will be an even better game, P5 will probably be my GotY.
I don't think Persona 5 is that great compared to BotW. It's a big improvement over 4, but I can give you a list of 50 things or moments in BotW that amazed me and combined they filled me with a sensation I never had in a video game before. Whereas everything in Persona 5 I already kind of experienced in Persona 4, but it was just better. P5 doesn't change the way I look at a genre and I think that is mostly because Persona 4 exists. So maybe that's unfair of me I don't know. But the impact of BotW was, for me, on a much larger scale.

Almost that entire list beyond the first like 6-7 are multi plat for the most part and that's a super good list.
Ni no Kuni 2 is not exclusive, Resi 7 isn't exclusive (though psvr is timed exclusive for vr systems), Middle Earth isn't exclusive, Torment is mainly a pc game, The Surge isn't exclusive, Absolver isn't exclusive, Dawn of War 3 is exclusive to pc, Valkyria Revolution si on pc as well I believe. You call me a sony fanboy but half of the exclusives on the list if not more than half are pc exclusives, you took a shot in the dark and failed.
I'll praise the switch when it starts driving out good games like xenoblade 2 on the regular and I'm not going to count games like disgaea 5 on my list since that was already on ps4 in what, 2014 or 2015 in the US, so that clearly isn't up for it even though that game deserves to be in that list.

Those are the ps4 exclusives I listed, chances are Earth Defense Force 5 and Matterfall will end up on pc later down the line as well.
That's a solid list of games, Yakuza is my favorite series, Gravity Rush 2 was great, Spider-Man is insomniac and it looks great, Horizon Zero Dawn was great, NIoh was great, Toukiden is a good series akin to monster hunter, dragon quest heroes is a good series just like hyrule warriors was, Guilty Gear is arguably the best fighter in gaming, Everybody's Golf looks like it'll be fun with friends, EDF is the most fun bad game out there, Matterfall is housemarque, and Windjammers is a fun couch co op game.
There is a difference between fanboying the ps4 and ps4 simply revealing amazing games.
Sorry your piece of plastic is disappointing you but I'm playing fun games. The only game you have till mario is arms which looks pretty fun I guess, the games that interest me for exclusives on switch are only arms, mario odyssey (barely), xenoblade 2, and a suda51 potential game. You've lost, you're the fanboy.

It has a lot of issues, fanboys just dont want to accept it. When its a Nintendo game these same fanboys focus on the negatives. But when its their favorite game, they focus on the positives. No and mainly because I haven't played BOTW. I hope to before 2017's end. P5, well no secret that is no where near GOTY for me but glad you loved your love my friend.
Horizon 0 Dawn is a very fun to move through and explore world with a nice combat. Robot dino's are fun to hunt, the character and world is interesting.
Nioh is better than any Souls game imo because the combat is more fluid and lethal quick. This is my front runner.
Prey is a great immersive sim that has a creepy atmosphere and wonderful space station to explore. No hand holding makes me love it more.
Honorable mentions are RE7, a great return to scare that dookie out and Halo Wars 2 a very entertaining RTS lite for Halo fans that do not want micro managing slogging RTS gameplay. Nice and action packed with the new Blitz mode making for an entertaining battle of wits where there is no time to Fvck around.
