Rise of the Tomb Raider is (timed) Xbox Exclusive

I'm waaaaaaaaay more interested in TR. It's my favorite franchise of all time. Where it goes, I go.

@LJS9502_basic: Sure, unless there was a contract. My assumption is that it will come to PC for sure. To PS4? Not likely, not for another four or five years, at which point it's irrelevant if it does (sort of like Mass Effect).

This doesn't mean that we're walking away from our fans who only play on PlayStation or on PC. Those are great systems, with great partners, and amazing communities. We have Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris coming to those platforms this December, and Tomb Raider: The Definitive Edition is available on PS4.

We know that there are probably many more questions and concerns. Please do send them to us, and we'll answer to the best of our ability. Meanwhile we're going all out to try and make something truly special - the most ambitious Tomb Raider game ever built.

It's Xbox One and 360? I think I'm more disappointed by it being cross-gen now than I would be if it was cross-gen plus PC and PS4 and PS3. Although we don't have knowledge of money being used to secure this exclusive, if you're going to get extra cash for exclusivity make it on the powerful platform and don't be tied to the previous gen's crap. I've never really been bothered by cross-gen before but c'mon!

Anywho, I'm disappointed that I won't be playing it anytime soon. The first was an enjoyable game. They secured a good exclusive in my eyes, even if the first didn't sell amazingly (I don't even know what the sales ended up being.)

Anytime a game is announced "exclusive" I always wait to hear further news down the line that game will be released elsewhere. And the way this is worded kind of makes it seem thus. Of course at this time no one will say that...thus it's exclusive. But for how long? That is the question.

I really hate timed exclusives. I can understand why Microsoft needs to do it though. I think most people will wait for the PC and PS4 version though.

If they don't make one it's their loss, unless Microsoft is giving Crystal Dynamics 2x the money for every copy sold...

MS should try to secure exclusivity towards something with a little more punch.

They have another game announced for various consoles as well. This might be a side story...it it's really exclusive then expect it to be the lesser of the two games.

TR 2013 was really refreshing and gave us a break from thinking lol, but it is time to incorporate a little more puzzle solving and exploration. Hopefully, they capitalize on this.

Temple of Osiris is an entirely different game than this one is. It's a downloadable co-op title.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is the main franchise.

So much butt hurt over this. Notice how nobody complains when Sony pays for exclusivity for games like Bloodborne, Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, or the original Infamous before they bought Sucker Punch.

Still, be it the devs or publishers or whoever in charge who made this decision, they must clearly hate their fanbase (since they re denying their larger fanbase) and want this new game to be murdered by Uncharted 4 now that it's going to be officially competing.

I haven't seen this level of folks being upset in a long time. Was Tomb Raider really that loved? I bought the definitive edition on PS4, but I have yet to finish it... just confused by all the rage and anger over an inanimate object.

I found it funny (and frustrating) that SE announced they are'nt walking away from PC/PS4 customers, because we can always buy their spinoffs and older games :p Dat logic!

Digital sales which make up the bulk of PC sales probably aren't included there...

Sad a bit that I'll have to settle with the 360 version. Shouldn't be much different from the Xbox One version since Xbox 360 could do 720p 30fps too.

You know, if Sony was doing this (be it for this, Bayonetta 2, etc), I doubt you'd be complaining.
