I see tons of signatures on here with Atheism Union. Would you join a non-knitting union to discuss how you don't knit? Most atheists have a superiority complex and think of themselves as wise for feeling secure not to drop their beliefs thanks to others on the Internet doing the same. And then they spam you with arguments by Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens that they got off of YouTube and get so happy when they win an argument. I guess when that's all you have to look forward to (projecting your self-proclaimed superiority), you'll spend all day looking for arguments to steal. And when they win an argument, they act like it means something. Wow, you owned some misinformed Christian who hasn't really started his religion? You must be so smart! There's a higher population of religious people (and most minorities are religious), so obviously we're going to have more idiots. However, if you take the top 5% of each group, I doubt there'd be much of a difference. Atheists only know so many arguments to combat religion because other people have something to do with their lives and don't research pointless crap all day. Now, make sure you check Wikipedia, YouTube, and your secret atheist hub beforehand so you can claim as much "ownage" as possible!

Sorry for these atheists, I don't know what got to them. Religious people would never advertise their own religion, so why should atheists do so.

What is this issue with a few people who share a similar belief having a union where they can share their thoughts with one another?

Because some people just have to be right, and to try and convince others of the same thing.

Insecurity and a need to have their sense of identity validated. Same reasons why some theists advertise their faith.

newsflash, people like sharing their beliefs and opinions and like attention! More at 11.

religous people do the same thing alot as well, democrats and republicans probably do the same thing. I'm pretty much doing the same thing by always having a Zelda avatar or having a video game in my sig.

I wonder if some atheists do not feel that they are part of some sort of exclusive group. Exclusive in the sense that they think they are smart/open enough to see the fallacies of religion and are thus a level higher.

I'm annoyed by that fact as well, religion would never see itself as some sort of exclusive group. Exclusive in the sense that they think they are superior to anyone else because it is written.

I suppose you can make a case either way. Or that religion or lack thereof is not going to change human nature.

It's actually not a bad idea, as it would be an opportune way to have fun playing around with the phrase "There are no atheists in foxholes".

I believe there is a difference. as for Christians, we are told to try to convert people into our religion, its what we are supposed to do, its a good deed. HOWEVER the bible clearly states if the person does not want to we must respect their choice and leave them alone. Atheist have no need, no obligation to attempt to "convert" people. also how would someone becoming religious be a bad thing?

Often, when large groups try to impose their beliefs upon minorities, the minorities who feel oppressed will speak out. Why do religious groups try to demonize Athiests, when Athiests are the ones capable of understanding the beliefs that religions are trying to push on them, are untenable? Why do religious groups feel the need to harass people at their doors?

Minor difference, yes. The end result is the same. Unwarranted conversion.

How would someone becoming Atheist be a bad thing? It's personal choice, as in we decide for ourselves. If we want to, we can garner the information rather than having it thrust upon us. Personally, i'm Agnostic, and it's how i'll stay.

The worst wars/theatres of war of our time have rarely invoked religion to any meaningful degree. Rhetoric and propoganda, yes, but the fighting goes on regardless.
