I think I'll have to buy Trine, and I may break down and get Bioshock 2 if I can make sure that it runs on my computer.

I have King's Bounty, and when I downloaded The Witcher demo I couldn't get it to run, despite more than meeting the minimum requirements. Believe me, I want to play The Witcher very badly, I just lack the knowledge required to make it happen.:(

its not actually on sale, but it is only $10. Looks like lots of other Adventure games have some steep mark-downs though.

The Longest Journey is not discounted. :( It's 9,99€. There's a good chance it'll be a daily special, though. I highly recommend the game, it's one of my all-time favorites.

I tried the demo but it seems so slow... I just want to read a book, not point and click all the time. PC gaming is tiresome, I just want to watch someone else play it while I relax. But I have no one else...

Step 1: Buy the game :P The Enhanced Edition fixed a ton of glitches and bugs and made it run much smoother... it takes a bit of tweaking to update it to version 1.5, but not overly much. If you have the non-EE version, that's where you run into some major hurdles.

What little headway I had made with my game backlog is about to be destroyed once again by Steam. Once you start looking under the different (and smaller, like 1C) publishers and see how many games are on sale - it's pretty overwhelming.

Also - King's Bounty series = gaming crack. A steal at $9.99 for both in the gold edition.

I'm happy to see the King's Bounty love in here. They are over looked games, because Strategy/RPGs are a niche genre, and it is from a small publisher. But they're still very fun and well made games. It doesn't hurt that the hardware requirements are pretty low as well.

Steam always seems to discount games I already have after the fact that I bought them months prior....maybe I should hold off.

You should be able to, I have a 5 year old PC I ran it on last time it went onsale. Like the guy above said the EE version, fixes a ton I finished it a few months ago. Man that was a great game you won't regret it raggs. I also bought Trine, have not played it a lot but what I have played is really cool reminds of Lost Vikings!

The important thing with The Witcher, like any other RPG, is to just patch it properly. And of course, save often. :P

Pro tip: Some (a lot) of the games discounted are bound to go on special deals somewhere down the road. If you are interested in a game, just keep track of it, see if it goes on special and grab it. The worst thing that can happen is that it never goes on special and you get it the last day of the sale anyway. Nothing lost. I've been burned a couple times in special sales before when the game I've just bought goes on special a couple days after I got it.

Grabbed Trine, the Unreal pack, and Defense Grid. Glad I'm not a huge PC gamer or this sale could make me very poor by the 4th. Wait, I'm already very poor... :(

Truth. I got S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl during the holiday sale for $10 because I missed the day that it was $2, and then the last day of the sale, it was relisted for $2. Same with Torchlight; I bought it for $10 because I missed it when it was $5, but again, the last day it was back. This time around, I only grabbed games that were already so low in price that it didn't seem likely for them to drop more. I'm probably wrong, though.

You're right, actually. Items on more than 70% discount are much more likely to remain like that throughout the sale, so you can't go wrong. Torchlight is especially treacherous on these sales.

I'm kind of sad about the Eidos/SquareEnix pack, because I bought the Eidos pack during boxing week for $50 and now for $25 more I get all the Square stuff and Just Cause 2 plus all its DLC. Should be able to 'upgrade' my pack for $25. :P

I overlooked this. That's a pretty nice haul for under $35. There are hundreds of hours of gaming in there.

The most expensive game I got this go around was $6.79 for The Witcher: Enhanced Edition, which I seriously doubt will drop in price.

Grabbed Trine, the Unreal pack, and Defense Grid.DarkCatalyst

Defense Grid is awesome, more people should check than one out.

I was thinking about getting The Longest Journey. How much is it on Steam with this sale?

UpInFlames

The Longest Journey is not discounted. :( It's 9,99€. There's a good chance it'll be a daily special, though. I highly recommend the game, it's one of my all-time favorites.

Be warned, you can't play that game at anything higher than 800*600 IIRC.

Great haul for Day 1:

  • 3.39..........Culpa Innata
  • 1.00..........Puzzle Kingdoms
  • 0.99..........Chrome
  • 0.99..........Chrome - SpecForce
  • 0.19..........Overlord
  • 1.89..........Overlord: Raising Hell
  • 5.39..........Overlord II
  • 5.09..........Rise of the Argonauts
  • 6.79..........The Witcher: Enhanced Edition
  • 0.95..........Ghost Master
  • 2.03..........Broken Sword II: The Smoking Mirror
  • 1.69..........Clive Barker's Jericho
  • 3.24..........King's Bounty: The Legend
SteelAttack
I overlooked this. That's a pretty nice haul for under $35. There are hundreds of hours of gaming in there.

Why, thank you. I was rather satisfied with my picks as well. :P There are some great games in there for really cheap. Not to mention how a couple of days ago Deus Ex I & II were $2.50 a piece.

Not really. Galcon is fun but it's way better suited to the iPhone.

Serious Sam is the only one I was really considering. Never did play those.

Ah, I didn't realize they were up there (I must be having problems, refreshing isn't displaying them although I've seen other people mention them too). Worth it, as long as you know you're getting into a mindless Doom-style shooter. It's not subtle, the level design is nonexistent, and there are enemies everywhere. I love them.

Maybe if Alpha Protocol was on there for like $15 I'd advise some people to jump but my inner voice won't let me recommend it for $33. after deals i got my copy for around $5

Gonna bite on Ghostbusters because $4 for a run through the story seems worth it. Also Galcon I've heard good things about.

When you see a deal like that and if you're into it, just get it. You can always get a better PC further down the line.

I missed it. :( It's still under 11 bucks, which is still pretty damn good.

No. Wait. More sales will come. And you still don't have a new PC. Just lurk in the shadows looking for the upcoming days' deals. And start adding stuff to your wishlist, so you can get whatever game which wasn't put on special by the time the sale ends.

Exactly my rationale. In my Steam collection of 60+ games, I can play about 5 on my current PC. But I got so many great deals during the Holiday Sale and this Summer Sale.

Hahaha! Bad Rats: The Rat's Revenge - most hilarious 95 cents I've ever spent. Well worth it...unless you're a 'cat' person.

I'm a cat person, but it does look kind of cool. I might have to scoop it.
