Ppl game on 5400 drives all the time.... We often get too caught up in numbers and go overboard. Did I choose a 5400 for my pc? Of course not, but that was because the price difference was basically none and everyone gets 7200. With that said, if you want to do anything at all invest in an ssd and after hdd prices fall more get a 1tb or 1.5tb blue or black WD.

[QUOTE="Gambler_3"]No if anything they did it because of financial difficulties. And historically nvidia has had superior legacy support so basically the culture at AMD isnt geared towards supporting older products which is a loss for consumers.
It's pretty simple there are just 2 companies in the GPU business with nearly identical performance across the different price points. One offers much superior after sales service than the other so why would you buy from the other company?
What about the 4870X2?? That sort of a card thrives on constant driver updates. There is just no way to defend this.

If you are a normal person you will buy a new graphics card before support goes from once a month updates to once every few months.
If you are curious how many people this affects, on the steam hardware survey:
1.01% of users have a 4850, which is a decrease of 1.21% over the course of the last month
0.89% of users have a 4870, which is a decrease of 1.27%over the course of the last month
0.57% of users have a 4650, which is a decrease of 0.19%over the course of the last month
0.52% of users have a 4350, which is a decrease of 0.19%over the course of the last month
0.45% of users have a 4670, which is a decrease of 0.26%over the course of the last month
0.44% of users have a 4890, which is a decrease of 0.23%over the course of the last month
0.09% of users have a 4670, which is a decrease of 0.13%over the course of the last month
So for those that is 3.97% of people that participated in the steam hardware survey had HD4000 series cards in March, down from 7.45% in february.
I could make the arguement that there will be less than 1% of users using HD4xxx series cards by the time that AMD drops support for monthly updates of them.
Keep in mind, they are not going to just stop working, the driver update cycle for these cards is going from once a month to twice a year. And I don't know anyone with an old video card that needs monthly updates.
pretty much this....the numbers don't lie. The problem with nvidia is they HAVE to support their older cards since a large chunk of their users still run an 8800gt. Just a quick look at the numbers on steam hardware and it says dx 10 cards still outnumber the dx 11 cards, 47% to 44%, and of all dx10 cards on the market 10%+ of that belongs to the 9800/8800/250 models. Another thing is even I who has a relatively new card don't do driver updates every month, i leave it for every 4 months or so since I get too lazy to do it. I never have any issues with the games I play so I don't have the need to update.
Numbers are numbers are numbers.... in and of themselves they say nothing. I am sure there are more than 4% of gamers with 4k series cards.... these stats are tainted by the willingness of people to take the survey, and after a recent update people are far more likely to do so... but bearing in mind that they will still offer occasional updates I don't understand why this is a big deal.[QUOTE="Super-Trooper"][QUOTE="ProjectPat187"]thanks so much for the response guys, except that one troll who came to post useless info.ProjectPat187All he did was ask a god damn question and then stated his opinion, your responses while not making you a troll make you look like an ass btw and all I did was ask a god damn question and not for his opinion or yours, Troll Projectpat187 you don't even know what damn Troll is the way you throw your worthless words around.... Everyone knows Silicel1 is NOT A TROLL and neither is SUPERTROOPER. So why don't you get your lame ass out of here and back to the noob forum where you belong?
My friend is looking at getting a set of 2.0 or 2.1 computer speakers and was wondering what would be the best option for arund $120 or so. Because I am not an audio guy I can't really give him an answer.
