Happens every now and then. I generally don't like it when I get stuck and have to consult guides/videos/forums for answers.

Also, some games just lose their appeal after awhile - like Skyrim for instance.

Well, I don't want to dampen your enthusiasm, but imo neither game is all that good. Skyrim though, is probably marginally better if you have to chose one.

@Maxpowers_32: For some reason I found myself quite enjoying mankind divided up to about the half way point - but it was down hill from there. As for Fallout 4, apart from the music there wasn't really any point were I felt like I was actually having much fun with it. So, in the end I don't really rate either game that highly.

When I saw that bit of the DOOM Eternal gameplay and the slayer jumped in the ship and flew to that world with a bunch of demons scavenging about, and then they all came to greet him, that was pretty awesome. Quick, to-the-point plot bumpers set the tone and get you pumped to blow up some demons, canon-fodder or not.

I will say, I was a little disappointed with the 2016 game when I had it on XBox, but I have been considering giving it another go on Switch because I didn't get very far into the game before and there were things I did enjoy about it. It wasn't a perfect DOOM game, but it got some things right. And maybe it revitalized the series after all of these years.

I still prefer Doom 3. With the latest Dooms there's just so much speed and verticality that you might as well be flying in a space craft. Everywhere you see ridiculous jump platforms and portals while dealing with enemies that are so quick they force you to be constantly on the move. It's basically a reflex tester - but it get old fast. I just don't like the direction they've moved the series in, but I can understand that some might be happy with it.

As a developer? Yes. As a Publisher? No.

Sad point is Bethesda Studios has not done a notable product since The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. And even that divided fans because despite the dungeon and map improvements it heavily stripped down RPG mechanics. Which the series had already been doing far too much previously. Now, TES was more or less an Action game with light RPG mechanics. Just like a higher quality Fall Out 3. Which itself was a low quality Oblivion.

Yet as a Publisher. With Dishonored, Prey, The Evil Within, and D00M. It's hard not to give credit its due.

While D00M: Eternal seems a bit edgy, bloated, and missing the point in my opinion, seems to be a highly anticipated game. Unlike Battle Royale for a crappy online game no one wanted. And I'm personally excited to see gameplay for GhostWire.

All good points. I agree with The Evil Within - it's probably their finest achievement in recent times. I haven't played the sequel yet though.

I'll look into GhostWire.

Bethesda just tried to sell us with zero gameplay and a bunch of cutscenes. Had I not known better I would think these are movies they are advertising and not video games. They are very out of touch with consumers right now. Who really gets excited by a cutscene these days? Especially with games we have never seen and we don’t have any idea what the actual game will be like. I’m not a Nintendo fanboy but I really think they did it right. Every game presented had tons of gameplay in it. You can tell they are selling video games and not movies.

Ikr, some of those trailers are so cringe-worthy!

I feel like they're really out of touch with most of their audience right now. I'm almost worried at this point about the next Elder Scrolls game and what kind of dumb gimmick they'll probably try to pull with it. I didn't watch their conference this year and I don't plan on watching anymore. It's just a cringe-fest and it's hard to watch, and that they're still trying to make something more out of Fallout 76 is a bit embarrassing. So I dunno... I was actually a fan of Fallout 4 but I don't expect another "real" Fallout game in a long time since it seems like they just want to milk the franchise via microtransactions (see Fallout 76 and Fallout Shelter)

I'm worried too. I'll give them a chance, but I hope their future games better have a less cartoony feel about them.

All those three games have a lot things that are common to each other than differences

First-person shooter

Fast-paced gameplay

cannon fodders AI

futurist weapons

even same visual styles

Yes, it's the fast-paced gameplay and cannon fodder AI that bothers me the most, I think. I just don't see why Doom, wolfenstein and Rage have to be that way. Because it just starts to become mindless pretty quick - there's no opportunity for tactics or strategy. All three games (and fallout too) have gone downhill recently imo.

Now I'm not a hater but looking at their e3 showcase it all just looked like glitz without substance.

Is every gamer is impressed by cheesy humor, explosions and corny music to match?

What happened to thought provoking themes, immersion and quality story/character development/writing?

Just looking at games like the new wolfenstein, rage 2, doom eternal etc... I'm not sure I'm feeling it anymore. How 'bout you guys?

  • Everybody staring down on their smart phone

This doesn't bother me too much. It's a good way to break awkwardness. And at least people are exercising their brains.

But when people are super-addicted and checking non-stop at inappropriate times like in social settings or while at work - yeah that can get a bit annoying.

I agreed with some of his opinions.
