I would have to say GTA3, because I remember how I felt playing it, and it was just amazing.

Actually, Final Fantasy XIII did suck as a Final Fantasy game - I'm a life long Final Fantasy fan by the way, so it does pain me a little to admit this. It was so structured it should have been a platform game, not an RPG. The promise of Gran Pulse being this insane ''open world'' area of the game was the only aspect of it that kept me going, and that was disappointing.

I also agree with you. Fallout 4 is crap. The last time I played it was November 30th 2015, and that is also when I received it (As a gift I asked for because I loved Fallout 3).

That's simply the truth. But - people who already spent their money, don't want the truth. They want everyone to pretend this is "game of the decade" , and they attack anyone who calls it like it really is.

Well, no. It's not simply the truth at all. It's been out for just 2 days. While it most certainly isn't ''game of the decade'' or even the year and probably never will be, it is a good game from what I have played so far, and while it's quite repetitive, I'm looking forward to playing it when I get home from work.

Just remember it's a indie game, no one isn't expecting much for a indie game and I won't denied No Man's Sky has it's flaws, I wasn't expecting much anyways cause I already knew what the game was all about before it was release. I'm still enjoying it and just waiting to get off work to go start my adventures some more and continuing playing it through the weekends.

Indeed, and to my mind, the £49 I paid for it has already been worth it, for the ~20 or so hours I've now currently sinked into it - Practically none of which have been following the ''storey'' either. I'm currently saving to buy a badass ship.

I'm really enjoying it. Very different from what is usually available on consoles. Gonna be a slow grind, but I don't mind at all.

Started out on a sunny planet. Then went to one of full of toxic poison where the creatures kept attacking me, but I didn't have a powerful enough weapon to deter or stop them. Last planet I explored was a frozen one, and it was a real challenge getting to points of interest while managing my thermal protection.

Found a shat load of gold to sell, and other trade-related relics for solid amounts of income.

It's quicker and easier to craft bypass chips and sell them for ~3000 units a go. (I found out from an article somewhere). I made about 700,000 units in around half an hour. All you need is a lot of plutonium and a lot of iron - All abundant resources.

I've had the game now since launch and while I'm enjoying it a lot, it's all very ''samey'' - Having said that, out of the ~10 hours I've played I have probably only visited a dozen planets so hopefully, it gets a lot more varied a little further along.

In summary

Good Points

  • It's beautiful. Sure, there are some graphical mishaps here and there, but as a whole it's gorgeous.
  • Also, obviously everyone knows it's vast, but until you've had a little glance at the universe, it's hard to comprehend just how vast it actually is, which is great.
  • Space combat is great, once you get the hang of it. I've seen a few weapon upgrades that I can do to my ship so this will be fun.
  • I really like the crafting system. It's quite deep in some places.
  • I actually thought the lack of inventory spots to start with was a good thing. Although infuriating at times, it made me be smarter about what I collected / mined. It also makes me revisit certain places to mine valuable stuff I missed - Which brings me to negative point number 5 below.
  • Music is amazing.
  • No load times - At all.

Negatives so far

  • So far, every settlement I find is exactly the same. The only variance is it's colour and size. The settlements only have 1 alien on them, if any at all. Hopefully, we'll find some properly inhabited planets with a little village here and there.
  • Space stations. A lot more imagination could have gone into these. They're all the same (from what I have seen so far)
  • Combat is really bad on planets, but so far it's rarely needed.
  • Puzzles - If you can call them that, are really poor (easy) when activating the orb things, or when talking to aliens.
  • You can't place markers on the planets - Even if they only stayed there while you were on planet, this to me seems like such a standard thing I really don't know why they didn't implement it. You can however place way markers on different galaxies which is going to be useful.
  • Walking speed. Now, I get that we're in space here but when you look at the different animals moving normally and/or fast, it makes no sense as to why I have to be walking so damn slowly.

I actually can't wait to get home from work to play some more.

I'm a little more excited purely because it has an enormous amount of extra side content, just like the good old says of VII, VIII and IX.

Okay so lets pick this one apart..

First off the ps4 is so ahead of itself it can't even deliver the majority of it's features and services well, if at all.

This is false. All of the functions on the PS4 work as they're supposed to. With many of the services, it states that you need a minimum connection speed, and if you can't obtain that, then it's not Sony's fault, given that between 30 and 100 Mbps is standard these days.

...but Sony does have to remember that they have to sell a product for their main target customers in the USA

Let's also not forget about the huge chunk of their market here in the UK where we have great internet speeds, and no bandwidth caps.

Let's be real most are kids or young adults who live at home with parents who pay for the internet.

Sweeping statement and likely false.

If they are lucky enough to get a good connection at a good price, that's great but most local counties have horrible over priced internet packages that can't deliver the speed and consistency needed for such huge online aspirations as the "share play" feature.

Again, how is this Sony's fault? They do not control these ISP's, they simply offer the function obtainable by another service (Internet connection). It;s not their fault if said service is under-par.

This brings me to the next reason ps4 is an epic fail....games are waaaaay too big and so are the updates. In fact the games have gotten so large that the ps4's hard drive can barely hold a single RPG MMO and it's updates without being completely full.

False. There isn't a single game out there that completely fills a 500GB hard drive including DLC and updates - By comparison, the Witcher 3 (regarded as one of the largest games available for the PS4) complete with updates and both DLC packages comes in at around ~50GB, so roughly 1/10 of the hard drive space (10%).

This wouldn't be a problem IF the games were stored on the discs they came on

This would be a huge problem. On the PS2 / PS3, games rarely exceeded several Gigabytes so it was easy to simply read the disc on the fly while playing a game as the amount of data the console had to store and read was far less. For PS4, with monumental games like the Witcher 3 with vast amounts of content, and various things going on at once, it's more efficient to store all content locally so it can access it much quicker reducing loading times and enabling a much more stable experience.

The fact that I own a disc of Elder Scrolls and yet the entire game has downloaded to my hard drive is inexcusable, this business model will not last long.

It's not a business model, it's a UX model. See explanation above. Forcing the user to install the game before playing ultimately provides a much more fluid game play experience. I have had my PS4 since launch, and i've only used about 60% of my HDD space - It's not an issue.

..unless Sony is prepared to offer affordable 500 TB hard drives in the new models.

I think you're getting your sizes mixed up. The PlayStation 10 may have a 500TB hard drive but I wouldn't hold your breath for it anytime soon.

Why is the game and updates not store-able on the cloud?

Didn't you just say that most internet connections in the states are useless / slow? So surely storing more things in the cloud which always require an internet connection would be worse for you?

- Or we can talk about the horrible battery life of the ps4 dual-shock controller with it's bedazzling lights draining power all day.

- We can go on an on about how crummy ps Plus is and how all it's free games are junk no one wants

I agree about the controller. The battery is really poor. You'll be surprised to know though that the LED has little effect on the battery life itself. Saying the free games on PS Plus are ''crummy'' is completely subjective and only your opinion. PS Plus is actually really good value for money taking into account the amount of games you get for free and the amount of discounts you get.

Now the saddest fail of all is Sony's inability to get good variety of games and genres on it's system..

There is plenty of variety on the PS4 platform. People always use this argument to try and justify their view on how poor a platform is, and it's entirely without merit in this instance. You'd be forgiven if you created this thread a few weeks after the PS4 launch, but we are a ways into it's cycle now with a plethora of varied titles - Over 1000 in fact...So just how many games do you need to be able to choose from before you'll be satisfied it's giving you variety?

I'll be getting the PSVR - Only because it's the ''easiest'' one for me to buy.

I've only had a go on the Gear VR but that hooked me enough.

I think people are being a little over the top with this.

I agree though, that as a demo for a random person who isn't invested in the FF franchise like I have been for 17 odd years, it's a rather poor experience. I think SE should have been a lot clearer in it's marketing that this is what they said it is, which is more of a tech demo showcasing lighting effects, weather and daylight / night time etc.

As for the combat, this becomes pretty good when fighting Iron Giant. It's not just mashing 2 buttons for attack and defend. What people are forgetting is that we have the d-pad to switch between short range and long range weapons and magic mid way through striking the enemy, L1 and R1 for different attacks, warp attacks and (in the final game) we will have group attacks and combos, summons and probably limit breaks.

There will no doubt be more beneficial tactical ways of fighting certain enemies making it extremely hard to do if you're just button mashing. We also know that using magic afford certain tactical advantages or disadvantages depending in the locale and circumstances in which you use them.

So really, this already seems to be quite a complex system that will take some skill to master and think when we have a better idea as to the quantity of different weapons and of course when see what the ''skill tree'' or similar will be, we will no doubt have a pretty robust battle system that's actually quite enjoyable.

I'm not big on any FF title being an ARPG, as I always preferred turn based, but so long as the combat is fun and doesn't become something I don't look forward to doing, I'm fine with it.

Graphics wise, to me they looked fine. I'm not entirely sure why people are complaining about them. I mean, I'm playing on a 42" TV and my sofa is around 2 meters away from it so to me, it all looks great. Character movement issues - Didn't really notice them.
