When I was playing the original Thief (and you know there are lots of levels with zombies and supernatural stuff) and I saw a zombie at the beginning of the level, in an isolated place or in the middle of the corridor without other ways around it, I knew that the corpse would rise and start hunting me (there are also a few fake corpses in the game that are not actually zombies). But still I was thinking that maybe it's not a zombie, maybe it's just a dead guy. So I decided to walk right on his body, convinced that it's not... So, as usual, I was approaching him steadily and when I was right on his body, an Huaaarrrgh! (brains) sound is heard. I was so freaked out that my parents were shocked watching me, even though I knew what will happen. I don't get it... how's that even possible?

On a general note, the whole Thief series is quite scary in some places. Also, like someone mentioned earlier, the Haunted house in VtM-Bloodlines is creepy, failed that mission because I gave the mirror/necklace (or what was there) to the wrong person. There are a lot of games that do not scare, but keep in a state of tension and vulnerability like Call of Cthulhu, Silent Hill, The Suffering and others Well, in Silent Hill, I got an intense rise of my heartbeat rhythm, enough to make stupid decisions.

1. TESIV is not a shooter because you don't shoot anything except arrows from a bow for example. It's just first-person perspective role-playing game with a lot of emphasis on action. That's what developers tried to do and they did it well.

2. If Bethesda was located in Japan, Oblivion would still be called a JRPG, even though it's from a FP perspective. The letter "J" in front of the "RPG" means the country of origin, like "PRPG" is Polish Role-Playing Game and GRPG is German Role-Playing Game.

3. The fall of JRPGs in general coincides with the evolution of graphics that erased the visual difference between Western and Oriental games. They're practically there, it's just that you don't notice them. Maybe you should check the handhelds... Also, japanese are not as original as you may think. Sure, they got away in the past because the oriental element (kawaii/anime graphics as well) was so fresh and original for the Occidental Culture, but how about now when the Reader's Choice Top 100 Games of All Time is 90 %-filled with japanese average games. Don't believe me, ask the japanese about their own games, they'll tell you how "original" and "innovative" they really are.:D Ask the hardcore, not the casual.

If in the past it was like:

-Hey, did you see that new game about killing zombies, demons and saving the princess made in...

-Meh...the usual crap!

-...Japan

-Best Game Ever!

Now it's like:

-Hey did you see that new game about a super weapon that can be controlled only by certain people and can destroy entire worlds from...

-Cool!

-Square Enix

-Meh...Another average game!

I agree that it is boring and repetitious...

Beautiful ( 16x10 4AA all options maxed...like buttah ) for sure...

Starting fires is fun....but only the first couple of times.

Respawing cancels any sense of achievment and makes getting around even more repetitious.

I didn't really mind the whole healing/map thing...but the diamond thing was retarded.

What happend to good old money...? I could hand a diamond to anyone on this forum and nobody could tell me it's real value..diamonds as big as your thumb could be almost worthless...while a diamond the size of a pea could be priceless.

Cash would be more realistic...yes I know Africa is full of diamonds...but still.

I played for 6 hours and then just gave it to my neighbor...I then bought Dead Space..that should keep me occupied until FO3 arrives Tuesday.-

Don't get me wrong I like open ended games ( Stalker etc ) but this game is just boring.

I fell asleep driving...

OgreB

well, life is boring too... if you look from the same perspective

I played titan quest but i really disliked that game there wasnt much skills to choose from in ur skilltree bec most of the skills r those worthless passive skills and story isnt great to keep u playing either

I cant play any online games.I treid playing some older games like final fantasy but i just coudnt digest those old graphics and i was playing halo too 1st few lvls where ok afterwards it was like sitting in toture chamber i just coudnt finish it.

Are you even buying the games? Because if you did, you'd have at least the interest to play 70 % of the game. And again, if you bought Titan Quest, you would understand that the game is worth your bucks.

Seeing how LOTRO is far from dying, I guess you can say that Warhammer will even take the no 1 position.

I thought you were gonna say something like: GOG... oh GOG why? Why did you appear and now we'll have to buy all those good old games instead of playing them for free after a couple of years, like Warcraft 1, 2, Day of the Tentacle, Benath a Steel Sky and others? Now we will have to buy these games forever ! and ever ever?:o :x
